Sometimes .50 just ain't enough  :o

He said he shot the huge animal eight times with a .50- caliber revolver and chased it for three hours through hilly woods before finishing it off with a point-blank shot.

Pistol < Rifle.  Now he knows that.  :)

BTW, do you have a link to the story?  I'd like to read it.

Is this the same "Hogzilla" story that was running rampant on the net about five years ago?  Just wondering, I never saw a posed shot with a kid from the first one.  There was actually a documentary about it on the Discovery Channel (I think it was DC) that was interesting.  Looking at the original photograph of it hanging, the claim was that it was 14 ft long or something like that.  People were skeptical of this and so a team of guys with shovels (I don't know who they were, just a team of guys...with shovels...) went and dug up the body.  The head had been buried in a separate location in case the body was to be stolen (you know, lots of graverobbers wanting a Hogzilla rib on the wall of the den at home) so anyways..long story short they found out it was actually about nine feet long.

What is interesting that most don't know of pigs is that they are one of the most adaptive animals around.  A domesticated pig (you know, like one your kid is going to take to the county fair....what? You never did?  Well I did...yeah) released into the wild (in this case the back swamps of Georgia and Alabama) can turn wild in as little as six months.  Beyond that they can also eat literally anything.

The nice thing about knowing this is when the world ends, the humans will die off rapidly while the pigs will survive.  Food for thought (no pun intended)  :o

Nope.  This was a new one.  It's even sorta real...right up to the part about it being a domestic hog named, "Fred".  Not-so-wild.

That is cool, I figured it might be..I don't remember much about the first one but I think it was brought down with a rifle.  There will be more...and they will be bigger yet!
