I have seen a few running. I know that some folks are out there shooting them already. I hate to see that as they have not had their babies yet and they are killing off next year's crop. I and my buddies will be out there in March looking for a few, but not until then. I hope that all you guys will wait at least another month or so too!

Today's word is conservationist.  Can you say conservationist boys and girls?   ;D
When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice, for I am a hunter,
And I must have my freedom.

I tried, but I feel like a big pussy when I say that!  Is that normal?

If you are saying someone that wants to have some to shoot next year is a conservationist then I suppose that I am. But killing squirrels that have yet to have their babies seems bit greedy to me. I want to have some to shoot for years to come. If that makes me a conservationist, then so be it.

From the PDF regs available at http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/cms/hunt/rules/ug/

Hunting of Predatory & Unprotected Animals
Some animals are classified as “predators” or as “unprotected”
and can be hunted and taken all year. Animals classified
as predators in Idaho include coyotes, jackrabbits, skunks,
weasels, and starling. The most frequently hunted unprotected
animals include marmots, fox squirrels, porcupines and
Columbian ground squirrels, English sparrows, Eurasiancollared
doves, and feral pigeons. These species may be taken
in any amounts and at any time by holders of the appropriate
valid Idaho hunting, trapping or combination hunting license,
provided such taking is not in violation of state, county, or city
laws, ordinances or regulations.

You need a license to hunt *anything* in Idaho.

Oh. OK then. It is just that between my .22 rimfires, my .17 HMR, my .17 Remington, my .204 Ruger, my .221 Fireball, one of my three .223 rifles and my 220 Swift there are only so many of them dang rodents to go around. I want to get my fair share of them too.  :D

Yeah, but the licenses are cheap. $12 I believe. Or they were last year, haven't bought one this year yet.
