If someone would have me I would be willing to join up.  Maybe we could be team "Hold up this stinking thing is jammed, no wait I got it, no wait its jammed I need a cleaning rod."  Instead of just watching this time get to shoot.

Lately they've been running 4 man teams. RG and I usually team up with whomever (though I can't speak for him 100%, not sure what he has going yet). Your welcome to join us or if RG can't make it (bet he can!) then we can team up.

The Patrol Shoot is my favorite........but I like the LRTR shoot to..............and the IDPA shoots............hmmmm.

Well, have to admit. He is a bit more distinguished looking than I am.  :(  He does however, catch the essence of how I've felt a few time after the patrol shoot (during?).

Still, the patrol shoot is my favorite! I recommend everyone give it a try.

If  you don't bring a gun, or at least some ammo with you, you will be the most depressed person on the face of the earth leaving the range.  ;D

Watching a patrol shoot and not shooting it, is like being a roller coaster junkie, and standing at the loading bay of the world's largest coaster and saying... I'll just watch.

There's always room for one more. Heck if we have too, we'll even make a special squad from those of us that have already shot to let you shoot.  ;D ;D

Generally you will need:

1. Safety is ALWAYS paramount.

2. Some sort of battle rifle (ar15, AK, something with a standard capacity of 20 to 30 rounds)
3. Some way to carry AND retain your spare ammo and mags (some of use tac vest, other use belt clips, and simple shotgun hull bag for your waist will work to retain your mags. KISS principal here.
4. Sometimes there are long range and shotgun stages within the shoot. You won't know until a couple weeks before the shoot. But if you don't have them, just get some ammo and find a friend at the range.  ;D
5. Good attitude and willingness to be yelled at by the peanut gallery and RO (Sometimes they yell not so nice things , well most of the time they yell not so nice things.)

200 rounds of rifle ammo
100 rounds of pistol ammo

This is a great place to try out your weapon's sighting system, sling system, how your gun works after ingesting 100 to 150 rounds in 10 minutes, how your reloads hold up, how your tac vest is laid out, how your pistol holster works or doesn't work. (Note, a retention holster of some sort is a good idea for the patrol shoot, as rolling around in the dirt is common practice ), how's your reloading skills, hows your heart? You know after you pound 500 yards or so running can you still shoot? How's your ability to listen and communicate to your partners as everyone is yelling and screaming at you and you are shooting? When your gun jams... not if... how long till you recognize it and can fix the problem.

Fun stuff that you just can't get when you go pinking at the range on your own.

If your a shooter, and your into the tactical aspect of things (as most of us here are) you will probably have a blast at the patrol shoot. If anyone is worried about how they will perform, don't. With the exception of safety, every thing is usually pretty laid back. No one is going to throw a temper tantrum if your on their team and your gun jams or you don't hit 100% of your targets. Fast paced but fun.

Information on up coming Patrol Shoot Via NG and R2

 Gentleman;

We are fast approaching the Spring Patrol shoot.

This year's spring patrol shoot will require six members of which two members will be shooting sniper rifles and maybe some handgun. The other team members will be shooting battle or patrol rifles and handguns.

It is an over the course, on the ground shoot. Imagine A “patrol” thru an area. Sniper team members will not be with the main patrol but will be providing an  over watch and fire and movement cover from on top of the overlooking hills. Sniper team will have to move and reset at least 3  times and the patrol  team Will have to coordinate it's movement with the sniper team. The two team's movement will be controlled by the engagement of targets by each of the teams. The team Will use radio's to maintain communications,  control movement and to direct fires.

Each member must carry all of his ammo and support gear and magazines cannot be dropped and or left behind, pack it in and pack it out. Teams can expect to take anywhere from 20 to 35  minutes to cover the  COF during which time if their not shooting they are moving and for you veterans of this shoot you know you will likely be moving and shooting.

Each team member ON the ground fire  team needs at least 210 rifle rounds, and 50  handgun. Last year our teams  got to run the COF twice so  it  would be good to prepare for that. Snipers need 40 rounds for their rifles and 30 handgun.

Also, this is a work intensive shoot and  everyone is required to  help reset targets,  clean up etc

Set up will start noon on Friday. If you can help with the setup let me know.

We will limit the event to six  teams. I need RSVPs as soon as possible. If you have a team let me know who your team mates are. If not or if you have a partial team let me know so we can work on getting one put together. Make sure you plan your food and water intake and watch the weather, we could have sun and 50 degrees or rain and 35 degrees and everything in between.

Expect some crawling, scooting, prone and other uncomfortable circumstances. Maybe even some friendly encouragement along the way.

Should be a good shoot.

Ng and R2

Try again... but be warned, it's a long download. ...

So, here is the trick.

1. Click on Link
2. Goto to kitchen and fire up the popcorn popper.
3. Pop the popcorn.
4. Goto store and get your favorite adult beverage or other carbonated/non carbonated drink
5. Melt the butter in microwave
6. Pour butter over popcorn.
7. Goto bathroom (Don't worry, if you have to do a complete purge of the plumbing system, you have time)
8. Gather up popcorn, beverages, etc...
9. Goto garage and get lawn chair and camping table.
10. Get everything situated
11. Get comfortable.
12. Now, the movie might be ready to start viewing.

But it's WORTH EVERY MINUTE!!!!!!

You tube would fix it, except it's over 100mb and you can't load a video larger than that. So you would have to redo it at a smaller size. Or split it up into a 2 chunks and have a part 1 and part 2.

Agree, my home DSL is slow, but my work with the 2 - T1 lines is pretty fast.

The main reason it's on the Parma site is because the Parma Rod and Gun Club is the home range and host page. Nothing against youtube, I have my own channel, but anything I do at Parma I usually send to the Parma webmater for the Parma site as well.

bet you could shrink that vid down to around 50-75 megs with divx.
America is at an awkward stage, it's too late to work within the system, and to early to shoot the bastards.

thanks i'll check that out...i think the editing software i use can compress it even more...i'll check that out. If i can get it under 100 meg maybe i'll upload it to an internet server like photobucket or youtube...

why not post it to a divx streaming site like vreel.net ?

(encode/convert with dr divx)

I tried running it through mencoder this afternoon and could only get it down to 106MB.  ???

i don't know jack of which you speak. I'll have to check it out and get some computer hacking skills.

vreel is like youtube, but uses divx and doesn't re-encode anything.

and autogk is easier to use than 99% of other video encoding apps, just set the desired file size and audio type & quality, add it to the job list, click start, and let it do the rest.

then you just check the finished vid for quality, and try it again when needed.
