IDFG WANTS TO INCREASE FEES AGAIN
« on: January 19, 2009, 04:18:00 PM »

Sportsmen! The Idaho Depatment of Fish and Game is trying to quietly get approval for another increase of license and tag fees plus some other changes in hunting/fishing regulations/choices. Their proposal can be read at the following website: http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/cms/about/history_funding/RevEnhance/08revEnhance.cfm
From there, you will see the links to pages about the proposed increase. This is to be voted on by our 2009 Idaho Legislature. If you do not approve of this increase please call your legislator! You can find them at the following website: http://www.legislature.idaho.gov/ From there you can find/search for your legislator.
Times are hard enough for everyone right now without having to pay more for hunting/fishing fees. I believe that the IDFG can tighten their belts a little also during these bad economic times. If we as sportsmen sit back and do nothing, things will continue as they have...costs keep going up, while our income remains the same, or, for some, less fortunate, has gone down.
Also, I believe that the quality of hunting in this great state has drastically declined, while the costs have increased in the past 15 years. Everyone I talk to has expressed the same concern. The IDFG would say that is is because they do not have the funds..I believe it stems from poor management.
Anyway, If you would like to have your voice heard please contact your Legislator and express your concern! The IDFG is to meet with the legislature on January 27,28,29. The state legislature has to approve this for it to pass. Let them know of your disapproval!
A public hearing will start at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, in the Trophy Room at headquarters, at 600 South Walnut in Boise.
Below the information for the IDFG:

Thanks for the heads up.  While I believe some of their fees are reasonable (i.e., straight hunting license) when compared to other states, I think the quality of game management needs to change.  No more $ until things get better in the field!

DITTO!!  Big game hunting in Idaho has gone way down hill since the mid 80s when I started hunting.  Would like to see us go the direction of UT, CO, AZ with spike only restrictions for general elk and draw only for branch antlered bulls-at least until the bull:cow ratios return to levels that they should be.

Agree game hunting is down the last raise 72% went into fisheries
instead into hunting they have worked on mule deer habitat and nothing for
whitetail in Riggins to Cottonwood areas.....
The fee hike is wait until things are different as in Colorado you draw at least every three
years.....Idaho you may wait as some have over 10 years..........
What are they doing for sage grouse numbers still falling yet why..........
Closure of the birdfarm in Jerome cost you hunters 10 plus per bird the magic valley
lost millions of dollars due to the closure and now no birds to hunt anymore......
We are headed to tough times they can do without as many others are............
They have a blue van said on the side of it 104000 miles on it....well
have over that and headed to work yet they say a pay hike, new equipment as with things
of this time they can get rid of high paid biologist and split their pay up.........
Yes we need to work on it call them and ask your reps to look into doing things different
