Reloading for the Lazy
« on: April 30, 2007, 04:05:34 PM »
Automation means more ammo which translates into more fun in the desert for me[8D]

Sizing used to be a bitch..not anymore:

Station 1 old Hornady 30-30 die with a decap rod and no expander ball.
Station 2 Dillon Rapid trim (sizes and trims in one step)
Station 4 Hornady .223 die with expander ball to expand the case neck out.

Had to use the 30-30 die to decap as a LEE decap die is to tall to clear the trimmer motor. I also found it necessary to cut the remainder of the decap rod off with a cutoff wheel on an electric drill to get clearance. Had to duct tape the vacuum assembly as the vac collar did not have enough clearance.

I use Dillon spray lube, NEVER have had a stuck case with this stuff. Just place cases in a Tupperware container, spray a few shots and mix around with my hands to distribute the lube. Hornady's elliptical expander ball does not need a lot of lube for the necks (lube does find its way inside the case necks anyway).

Swage the primer pockets:

Load the brass wet, don't worry about the lube.

Tumble until nice and shiny...

Man, if I had a 1050, I bet I could put the entire operation on the press..or at least it would swage the brass for me then I could change the toolheads and load.
