Here's the pictures I took at the LRTR. I'm playing with a new option in Picasa, my photo program that let's me put music to a slide show and upload it as a youtube video. Probably a little long, but here it is.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNM12X-Eajk0830 - Day started in the Club house, with fog on the range with limited visibility. We took the opportunity to talk over some topics on LRTR that we don't usually get time to cover. Discussions included. Mil dot and how to use them, pro's/con's and gotchas. Scope choices from budget to top of the line. Different methods to range, ie. GPS, Maps, MIL, Terrain Association, Theodolite, Laser, triangulation, etc.. Pros/cons of each one. Then we had a quick demonstration of a compass and string to do triangulation.
Then it was time to shoot. With the limited viability, we were limited to about 500 yards, at least for the morning. We probably could have gone out to 1000+ by the end of the day.
Course was 6 stages, all from the firing line and laid out in the long range rifle area.
All stages had a max of 8 rounds, scored 20/10/5/5/2, or 10/5/5/2/1 if you used a sighter plate. You had 25 minutes with your squad to shoot, that's about 6 1/4 minutes per shooter for 8 shots. Not bad.
No laser range finders, targets were either KD or Mil'd (KD=Known Distance, UKD=Unknown Distance)
Stage 1: MGM Flash target - Range: UKD - Mil - approx 290yds

You had to hit center on the flag and open it all the way, partial open or just moving the center flag didn't count.

Stage 4: R&R Rocker - Similar to MGM Flash, but inverted - Range: UKD - Approx 513yds
This was a hard target, as it was on a hill, if you missed high, you could not see a hit, I had a lot of problems with this one, only 2 for 8. This stage killed me!!!
Stage 5: MGM Flash - Range: UKD Mil Approx 420y
Stage 6: MGM Flash - Range: UKD Mil Approx 510y
The whole stage was shot prone from one position, not as much movement as normal, but the limited visibility that we thought we would be stuck with made that decision for us.
It was a good match, There were 4 perfect scores of 252 points, nobody had 0 misses although two of the shooters had just 2 misses the entire match (Edge and one other) I scored 238 w/11 misses, not too bad, but if I had found my range on stage 4 I probably could have gotten 250 (wishful thinking I know)
My rifle shot great, much better than I did, my partner Zona cleaned Stage 4 while I struggled with it. Zona can really call the corrections, he had me on target after the 1st shot on 2 stages with his corrections. Thanks! I know I need to work on that.
My ballistics seem to work well. The wind was blowing, and I had 1 MOA L of correction all day, and that was enough. 3-6mph winds at about 10o'clock on the dial.
Great match to wring out the tables, gather up your cold weather dope and have a great lunch and converse with great people.
We had 20 shooters, all together and a few observers for a while as well. It was great to met some more Boise shooters that were out there. WTF and ManOnFire were 2 new faces for me.
Now, time to load up some more ammo, and shoot some more!!!!
