I CC'd.  Had no problems whatsoever.  No sign was displayed when a I went in shortly after noon.  Went about my business and enjoyed the show for the most part.  Prices seemed a bit high, but I expected that.

* I learned (according to the show manager) that it was REQUIRED in his contract with Ada County, as in Ada County told him he had to, that the sign be out front and that all firearms be unloaded (major problem if true)... though he did say with no reservations that he wouldn't allow loaded firearms regardless of the stipulations he said Ada County imposed on him via the lease. I must make it clear, I like the show manager Paul, he's a good guy, and was nice about it, but has an odd view that "for safety and because of past ND's" he still wants all guns unloaded. Again, he was cool about it all, and while we disagreed in an issue, I made it clear my issue was not with him, but rather, I wanted to clear up something with Ada County and unfortunately he got stuck in the middle.

If True, someone in the County is either not paying attention to the law, or may be trying to be a problem.

the part I made bold bugs me a bit (unless i'm reading wrong).

Good Info though dude.

RG, I was swept a LOT.  Mostly by people looking at stuff on our table.  ???  At least I knew they were empty and they were zip tied.  It's damn near impossible to pull a firearm off the table and not sweep someone.  The only thing that really worked was the rifle rack.  Those rifles stayed pointed up most of the time.

Yea, I'm not saying I liked it or felt good about it.  But, if a firearm is laying on a table and it get's picked up it will likely sweep someone somewhere before it gets pointed high enough upwards.  That's just the way it is.  The dumbshit sweeping me three feet in front of them was just stupid and reckless.  Not everyone was like that.

Yesterday was pretty busy.  Today was definitely slower.

BTW, there were no ND's this time.  That I'm aware of.

The part you bolded was the show manager's (the guy who leased the property, read Bill's post above regarding leasing county land) words, not any county employee... if he has the right, then he has the right. BUT what bugs me is that he said the County REQUIRED him to post the sign and have the policy [of unloaded firearms only]... THAT for sure is a flagrant violation of law.

Now, what's interesting is the show manager got ahold of the County employee who was in charge of Fair security and was told at least the sign had to go 100% for sure (thus why one of you who went after 12 didn't see it, they had taken it down). It seems to me if he has the right to unload the firearms, then he should have the right to the sign... but hopefully we'll know later today.

I got to the show around 1 and there was no sign in sight! And also no good deals to be had!  Just lots of JUNK and over priced ok stuff. Which was pretty disappointing. My buddy was even more disappointed because he had $1200 bucks burning a hole in his pocket for a new AR and could not spend it!  In fact we were kicking ourselves because as we got there a guy was leaving with one on his back for sale and we passed it up!  The only good deals we saw were going down in the parking lot between private partys?!?

The AR's that were there for 1200 required work on them to make them reliable - staking gas keys, extractor upgrades, staking carrier nut, etc. If any LMT or Colts would have been found for that price it would have been worth it.

After one of the officers who responded to the Fair Grounds on Sunday got back with me (after speaking with the county prosecutor) this is the deal with the fairgrounds and unloaded guns:  apparently when the county leases out land (like this recent gun show), it essentially transfers all rights of control over to the person who leases it. Thus they CAN make people unload at the door if they want to. There you have it. I'm still trying to get a copy of the lease cause rumor had it that the County was requiring the unloading and no-loaded firearms sign (and that for sure is illegal for them to do). Just trying to hold em accountable to the rule of law, and not rule of whim. ;)
Again, good things to say about the two officers who responded. :)

They don't transfer all rights of control....It still is "owned" by the county.

County has guidelines on what can be allowed while it is rented...

If they gave up control someone could tear down walls and repaint the place right? The county would be able to stop you and terminate the "leasing" agreement if you did that.  So that means it is still controlled by the county.
