If it's at the Fairground, OPEN CARRY if you care about your rights.

Last time around I wasn't able to make it and the nazis were still trying to tell people they couldn't OC (and in at least one case not even CC).

If anyone is going please PM me . I am unable to go but would like to see if the guy selling Glock mags on the cheap will be there selling them for cheap still .

Well, I got there about 1030 hours on Saturday. The line was almost out to the parking lot. I must confess I haven't been to a Boise show in about 3 years and this is the first time I ever saw a line to get in. Inside it was crowded, and I could not find any deals. I spoke with several venders I know and they said there were very few deals during the set-up the night before either.
I got to meet a couple of the guys on this site. One of the venders I know, (a good friend of mine) said he brought some ammo for a guy to sell. It got marked UP there times before 1030.

I got there at around 10ish, I didn't see that sign, I cc'ed, cause it was cold, the line was long and took 22 mins to get inside.

everything was mostly overpriced as expected. but I did find some normal pricing on some HSM 45 ammo, and snagged it all up. I doubt I'll be going to any more gun shows for a while cause everything is marked up higher than normal.

No CCW? Really. So how did I carry Concealed there today? Oh thats right it was concealed. BTW, they can't prohibit guns on the premises no matter how they are carried as it is county property.

Think perhaps it was for the swap meet (which is usually crap) or some Anti's might have put that thing up to mess with us?

They put it up because some dimwits will pull out their Concealed Carry Weapon and chamber check with their finger on the trigger - resulting in a ND.

So the gun show hosts put it up - by default creating a gun free zone.

Perhaps it's time that someone should point out the fact to them that doing that looses them a LOT of business...

As I was snapping that pic I Heard another unimpressed person who also left tell a guy with him that "A sign like that at a Gun Show is like a sign in front of a Church Forbidding the mention of God"
(Kind of Fitting if you ask me...)

How about what they're doing is in violation of state law... not just losing them business. I'm sick of this bull SH&$ going on. If I had gone I'd Open carry. MAN UP, and flex your God-given and state protected RIGHT to carry. Guys, we're in a volatile time here with Barakman appointing the nazis he is. If you don't even OC to get the current laws correctly enforced I wondering what you'll do when your ARs are flat out banned, like turn em in banned. A lot of good they'll do you sitting in a tube in the forest.

AAR for ya:

I OC'd to the Gun Show today, knowing I would likely be denied entry or other such things. To me this is a matter of rule of law. If it's illegal and they can deny me, I'm happy to walk away, but if it's not, then we must push to see justice upheld. Thanks to Jeff for calling me this morning to make the sign out front (pic of it above) and "urgent" matter to me.
So I walked in, OCing, paid, and asked to see the manager since they hadn't said anything about my gun. Anyhow, the end result is that I asked very politely a few questions and then since the manager was dragging his feet, I suggested we call Ada County to show up. Two officers showed up and we talked it over a bit.
Result:
* Fair Grounds security head dude pulled the sign from out front, though all guns were still unloaded and zip tied when you entered the show. So really nothing changed.
* I learned (according to the show manager) that it was REQUIRED in his contract with Ada County, as in Ada County told him he had to, that the sign be out front and that all firearms be unloaded (major problem if true)... though he did say with no reservations that he wouldn't allow loaded firearms regardless of the stipulations he said Ada County imposed on him via the lease. I must make it clear, I like the show manager Paul, he's a good guy, and was nice about it, but has an odd view that "for safety and because of past ND's" he still wants all guns unloaded. Again, he was cool about it all, and while we disagreed in an issue, I made it clear my issue was not with him, but rather, I wanted to clear up something with Ada County and unfortunately he got stuck in the middle.
* BOTH Ada County officers who showed up (names withheld for now) were professional, courteous, (I mean that, not just saying it) and all in all spot-on in how they handled everything. No complaints about either of them... and I find it easy to complain.

* I was told I was born a hundred years too late (a compliment I think) LOL

* At this point we are pending the two officers getting back to me as the carry-loaded or not issue really boils down to what authority and powers are conveyed from the County to the person who leases the property from them, which is a rather technical question. Do they (for the duration of the lease) "own/possess/control" the property as they would their own land, or with stipulations? ... and if there are any stipulations, what do they cover? So both officers said they would contact the County Prosecutor and inquire into this matter for me.

I'll update you guys as I'm updated and/or find out more.

On a related note: At the Canyon County Fair several years ago, the same issues surfaced. The person that owned the carnival and rented the property for the duration of the fair wanted a sign posted indicating they did not want any weapons on the carnival property.
As the ranking LE person assigned directly to the fair, I brought it up to one of our Prosecuting Attorneys. My question was can a person that temporarily "owns" the property deem conditions contrary to common law? Technically, make regulations that are stricter than in this case, state law. The response I got was since the person (the carnival owner in this particular instance) leased the property, they can make rules or conditions to their standards, which means now it is somewhat like private property. Example: If a person walks into my house, I can demand they don't wear a red shirt. If they don't like it , they don't have to come in.
The carnival owner had "no foul language of offensive display of language" (or something like that, heck, it's been ten years now). A kid thinking he was cool wore a t-shirt that said " F#%K YOU". In letters about 4 inches tall, and it was spelled without the replacement letters I put in. We asked the owner if that was offensive by his standards. He said, yes, and out the kid went. His rules, his determination.
I think in a left-handed sort of way, this is the same thing.
For the record, I am not condoning the policy of what ever they are trying to acomplish at the Boise Gun show.
