« on: December 31, 2008, 03:06:54 PM »
Just wanted to share what I got for christmas from my beautiful wife. She got me a Ruger Blackhawk .357 with the 4 5/8 barrel. Mint condition, it was made in 1969. I will get pics up when I can. Hope you all had happy holidays. ;D

That's the first pistol I ever bought! (Except may be year, mine was used in 76)
All data is flawed, some just less so.

Anyone know if it is alright to shoot +P ammo out of an old model Blackhawk? I have a bunch of +P but want to make sure its alright and I haven't been able to find anything out. Thanks

Well, if you mean 38sp +p and the firearm is indeed chambered in .357magnum, then yes. I have never heard of +p 357mag. I guess someone is loading them hotter than SAAMI.

SAAMI specs in the range discussed:
.38 special      17k psi
.38 special +p  20k psi
.357magnum    35k psi

RG I guess I should have mentioned that it is a .357 mag BlackHawk. Lol And I was referring to .38 +P. Thanks RG :)
