2009 MGM New Years day 3 gun man on man
« on: December 17, 2008, 08:20:01 PM »
Well it is that time of year again for the 3rd annual MGM New Years day man on man 3 gun shoot off!!  The course of fire will probably consist of five or six rifle, pistol, and shotgun rounds per string with rifle shots out to about 100 yards.  The winner will be the person who wins two out of three strings per match up.  It will be double elimination.
We will divide shooters into two groups.  Open, and everyone else.  Of these two groups, we'll further divide it into experience levels which are beginner, novice, intermediate, and expert.
We will adjust the course of fire to make the match ups equal.  Bring your pump shotgun, iron sighted AR, single stack .45...whatever!  Just bring it and we'll make your matchup fair and you will have a great time!
The price is $10 and we'll do a 100% payback to the top 33% of the shooters.  We'll start at about 09:30 on  Jan 1st at the Parma Rod and Gun club.  We'll be in the pits on the right hand side of the road right inside the front gate.  Let me know if you have any other questions, and we'll see you in a couple of weeks!!!
Adios,
Travis

Also is this a tactical match with drop legs and such, or is it going to be like the last one with regular holsters?

How many rounds needed for each?

You will need five or six rounds for each weapon per string.  You will shoot at least two strings per matchup.  If you do well, you might use as many as 150 rounds of each depending on how many people show up to shoot in your class.

You can wear whatever you think will be the fastest.  If you think you'll do well drawing from concealment, BY ALL MEANS DO IT!!!  ;)

Thanks for the bump Zona!  I was going to do it myself, but I keep getting sidetracked!

If you are planning on coming out to the NYD match, it should be a pretty good time.  Here is how it is going to shake out:
All guns will start empty on table.  On signal, shooter must engage 6 targets at 100y, six targets at 10-15y with pistol, and six targets at 10-15y w/shotgun.  First person to shoot down stop plate wins that bout.  Person who wins two out of three bouts wins that match up and continues on.
It will be double elimination so you have to loose twice before you are knocked out of the competition.  Anyone that is good with J ladders and could help out would be greatly appreciated!!
Please do me a favor and just post here if you plan on attending, and let me know if you have any questions!
ETA:
It will be a $10 entry fee, and we'll pay it all back to the top 33% of the shooters in each class which are:
Limited - All iron sights
Tactical - One open gun
Open - Anything goes

Adios,
TG

Looks like some serious fun.  I wanted to make it, but my back is out.  Hoping to get put back together in time for the Ironman (where I think I injured it originally).
