Wyoming Prarie Dog Hunt
« on: April 17, 2007, 12:06:37 AM »
Spiff, JollyRoger, and I are heading to eastern Wyoming for a real prarie dog hunt.
Q: What was the most positive result of the "Cash for Clunkers" program?
A: It took 95% of the Obama bumper stickers off the road.

I think the reason you weren't invited was that the intestate Hazmat laws only allow so much methane per vehicle & those boys love their mexican. :rofl2:

We didn't invite anyone else because we had a fourth and had no more room.  But, that person cancelled.  We were just talking about adding a fourth but there's not much time for someone to get ready.  We are planning on an all night drive Friday (11 hour drive), shoot Saturday, camp, shoot until about noon Sunday, and drive straight back to get in about midnight.  I'm sure most people wouldn't want to do that.

So OB, are you going this next weekend? Did this ever get finalized? We were worried about the weather but the latest from weather.com (for Douglas Wyoming) says sunny and upper sixties. So it looks like it will be a go (if it does turn shitty, we will probably cancel).

We are planning on leaving about 12 - 1 pm on Friday afternoon. Will be roughly an 11 hour drive.

Going to sleep outside, and eat outside (for the most part). So you'll need a tent, and sleeping bag. We were thinking about splitting a case of MRE's between us, and fuel will get split between us all. Might also want to bring water, (no alcohol allowed, of course), etc.

Anyway, let us know. Or let me know, the other two aren't important......................... ;D

Just for reference here's the basic plan:

http://espn.go.com/outdoors/hunting/h_map_bare_06_WY_Douglas_prariedogs.html

We may improvise depending on how things so.  Wow, a 2 square mile dog town in Loop 1!

BTW, moved to Hunting where it should have been in the first place.

AAR to be posted soon (tonight maybe).  We survived!  It was awesome.  Pdogs everywhere.  We shot so much that we ran out of ammo.  It was like the fist of an angry god had slammed into pdog town.  I shot so much that I even forgot to take pictures.  And my trigger finger is sore.  More to come...

What species of dogs are they?  I take it they are not the Spermophilus townsendii ground squirrels

Well I did take two pics.  Eastern Wyoming is that flat and boring.

First, that little dot out there is Spiff chasing down his kill.

Second, was just supposed to be a shot in the other direction but I think I caught JR playing with himself.  ;)
