Homedale Gun Show AAR
« on: December 06, 2008, 09:34:34 PM »
Homedale Gun Show is this weekend.  Spiff and I went there today and here are some of my thoughts about it:

  • The ratio of dealer to private citizens seemed much different than the Boise shows.  There were more private citizens and I thought the deals were much better.
  • It was much smaller but more personal.
  • I actually bought a gun which I almost never do at the Boise shows.  The deal seemed really good to me.
  • Spiff bought some stuff too.  I thought he got pretty decent deals as well.
  • I decided that I will be planning on getting two tables for the March show in Homedale.
  • This was the first time I've been to Homedale and I liked the area quite a bit.
  • I think I'll be traveling to other small town gun shows if I can.
  • Some of the Boise Gun Show dealers were there and their prices were way too high.
  • I passed on a Glock 21 3rd gen in great shape and he only wanted $425.  He may still have it tomorrow.  ;)
Q: What was the most positive result of the "Cash for Clunkers" program?
A: It took 95% of the Obama bumper stickers off the road.

I didn't pay any attention to that.  Sorry.  Since I can get dealer on those I never look.  ;)

I see that the Homedale show is this coming weekend (2/28-3/1).  Does anyone have directions or an address for the armory?

If you are driving in from Canyon County, you'll go through Wilder, and go down the hill (US hwy 95). Go over the bridge and into Homedale proper. I think you have to lean to the right as soon as you get over the bridge. Continue on into town, past the high school. You will come to a stop sign. Go straight and go about 4 blocks. Turn right down most any of the side streets (North 3rd St West would work) BEFORE the railroad tracks and go about 4 blocks. You can't miss it.
The Homedale show used to be the best in the valley 20 years ago, back when it was at the Armory. They moved it around town for a few years and for some reason, it went way downhill. But it is now retained it's title as one of the best small town gun shows around.
If I didn't have to work, I'd be there.

I'll probably show up there on Sunday.

For the last one they had signs at every place you needed to turn.  Lots of stuff last time around but crowded since it is a fairly small building.

I'm still debating whether to go or not.

I didn't make it to the show.  Question for anyone that did - Did anybody have stripped lowers for sale, and if so, what price were they asking?

Thanks

Was there.  I didn't see any stripped lowers.  Only saw a couple of AR's and they were expensive.
