.38 Super
« on: November 27, 2008, 10:23:51 PM »
Hey kind of got a lead on a .38 Super in 1911.  Anybody had experiences with these?  Good or Bad?  Probably going to pick it up anyways but just curious.  Suggestions on ammo?  Normally odd ball (as I call em) rounds dont grab my attention but I like 1911s and the deal is sweet (300.00 bucks).

The mexican gang bangers seem to love them.  ;)

I'd check the Brian Enos web site and see if there are any suggested loads posted in the forums.

Lol, its a stock RIA and thinking of setting it up more for the wife...she does not like the .45's.  Duracoat it pink or something for her with bright green grips  ;D ;D ;D just kind of curious if any of you had first hand experience with them.

Lol, no pictures yet...have not bought it yet!

But here is a link to one and this is what it looks like.  I am thinking of giving it to my wife for home defense (.45 is a little to much for her, does not like to shoot it) instead of buying her the Beretta 92 in 9mm.  But I here it is kind of "iffy" in the reliability area (ammo wise) due to lack of manufactures producing it...going instead to the .357Sig and .40.  It may become a closet gun but for that price...got to get it.

I'm sure it's been said, but for a home defense gun for a person who doesn't shoot much, I think a DAO type of gun would be best. No safety to flip off.

And in fact, a mag disconnect may even be a good thing... you could train your wife to drop the mag if attacked and the gun was going to be wrestled away.

Just sayin :-)

I have the same gun (tactical version w/an ambi safety and tactical sites) in .45 and think it's well made.
