LaserCast SWC 200 grainers out of a Glock.
« on: November 22, 2008, 04:10:53 PM »
PV, I don't clean the pistol anymore than I used to. The recipe that I got from RG is:

200gr Lasercast LSWC, WLP primer, 4.6 VV N310 1.250 OAL, taper crimped at .470 -.469

This is what he uses in his 1911, and it's what I use in my Glock 21.

LaserCast bullets are guaranteed not to lead the barrel and that has been my experience with them in my Glock.
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.  ~William Pitt

You could get away with it with the LaserCast bullets as they are super hard. (IIRC they contain a silver alloy, which some say is good for zombies and vampires ;D)

The seating depth is also critical...I loaded mine a little short...shot fine out of the Kimber...not so fine out of my XD (didn't work in the Glock 30 that I had previously). I just use the plated 230gr roundnose in the XD now.... Will try seating some SWC's out a little longer and see how they function in the XD.

I use cheaper SWC's in my 1911 and it always leads up a bit..not a big deal as a few swipes from a Lewis Lead remover takes care of it in less than a minute.
