Percolating tea?
«

Well, I have a percolating coffee pot (I never use; really for SHTF) and got some of the tea WTF was giving away. So, I decided to give it a try and it worked great. The leaf tea was pretty well contained by the percolator basket. Now I just have to work on how much tea per cup and how long to let it percolate.
So, that old style coffee pot isn't just for coffee. Anyone else use one for anything else?

Percolating tea works just fine. once it boils and starts percolating, let it percolate for 2-5 mins, you determine how strong you want the tea to be. but anything over 5 mins and the Tea will become very bitter.

Oops I'm an idiot, missed your question on how much tea to use. this requires a little trial and error on your part. but normally about 1/2 teaspoon to 1 teaspoon per 12 oz of water. sometimes more depending in your tastes. it varies on the type of tea as well. you have plenty to experiment with.

Thanks for that info. I used too much (probably 1 tablespoon per cup) and probably perc'd it too long too (3-4 minutes, maybe more; I just looked for the color). But, it was still good.
I knew I used too much tea but like you said, I have plenty. I'll work on it until I get it "right" enough.
