War in Iraq
« on: March 20, 2007, 10:18:42 AM »
I wasn't in favor of the war in Iraq, but G.W. didn't ask me. However we are there now and I am glad the Iraqi people can experience freedom. Lets get the country in shape enough for these people to defend their own country. I listened to a radio program last night where a U.P.I. reporter was talking about her experiences in Iraq. This is not the same crap the liberal press has been shoving down our throats.  And you won't hear it on network news. Go to ( jerrydoyle.com),  click on "U.P.I. reporter Pamela Hess"  for the recording. Amazing !

She has been getting a lot of play on the conservative side of the dial lately.  This is where I first heard about her:  http://www.blackfive.net/main/2007/03/the_most_import.html.  I think that is what propelled her into the spotlight.  An honest account.

I just recieved the cost of the war from 9/11 to recent from an Army buddy of mine in Virgina.

510 billion.  The projected costs for this year will add another 128 billion, and next year is projected at 110 billion.

Half a trillion dollars is a butt-load of money. To bad we don't have more tangible results for it than we do. Now that we are in Iraq we should never, never allow ourselves to pull out without finishing the job. With that said, I think the war in Iraq was a colossal mistake........we should have focused our resources on Afghanistan. Iraq is on the verge of civil war, as soon as the dems make us pull out, civil war is exactly what will happen and when it's over the government that emerges will be pro Iran. And when that happens the shit will really stink over there. Saddam may have been an asshole, but he was an excellent buffer between other interests of ours in the area and Iran who is trying to jockey herself into a position of dominance in the area.

Hopefully I'm wrong, it happened once 15 years ago................
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.  ~William Pitt

Unfortunately I think you're 100% correct Spiff.  We are stuck between the proverbial Rock and the Hard place.  Pull out and the SHTF over there.  Stay and we just keep sinking more and more money into this war... and it's not going to stop with Iraq and Afganistand either.
