I've heard of the second place but not the first.  Dont know anything about them really.

Why pay for a range when we have thousands of acres of desert and mountain land so close?

Ee Da How Long Rifles has been around for quite a while.  They are kind of the group behind Black's Creek.

The other one, I have not heard of.

Well the fact that they're on my way home and open 6:30 - 9:30 weeknights is pretty cool.  I can pack my gear and go to the range after work if I want, especially during the nasty weather times.

My dad worked out right next door to them. They are closed for most of the summer, no A/C. I do know they hold bullseye league there during the winter months. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info Hutch.  I'm going to stop by there this week and check them out.  Maybe they have AC now?

I did a quick walk through when Ryan and I dropped off some ammo for some Tac Sol testing.  It's neat but old (sort of like a 50's bowling alley) and I think no AC.  If you live on the east side it might be worth a look.  Driving there from my place would be expensive and take quite a while.

Where abouts are these ranges?  I work off Broadway, so I'm on the east side for work.  I like Impact guns, but it takes me forever to get there now, that I can't justify going there during my lunch breaks anymore.  And now they've closed off a lot of Blacks Creek area, so I'm not sure where I can go that's maybe 5 to 10 minutes away.

If you don't mind the drive there's the Parma Rod & Gun Club, $35/yr annual membership fee. It's a 24/7 unsupervised range w/dedicated .22, shotgun, rifle, pistol & tactical areas. Rifle area has measured berms w/gongs out to 500m and if you're feeling adventurous the SE corner of the range offers gongs at 600m, 750m & 900m: http://www.parmarng.org/

Tomac,

I've been a member of Parma Rod and Gun Club for probably over 10 years now.  So, yep, I don't mind the drive and I really like that range, but I'd like to find something a little closer that I could just make a quick trip to for testing loads, plinking and just genreal stress relief.

Orbital-burn,

I've been thinking about getting one of those.  Do they work good?

work fine if you don't have anything else.  Or if you want to load at the shooting site.  Spiff knows more about it than I.  I got mine about 3 years ago, I don't currently have anything else yet.

Orbital-burn,

I have one of those and have seen a couple of others.  None of them had good alignment between the ram and die.  I bought mine because it was cheap years ago, maybe they are better now.

Another option is the Huntington Compac tool.  I have been using one of them since the early 80s and it is still going strong.
