Barrel threading
« on: March 13, 2007, 01:58:05 PM »
We took Bolt's AR10 barrel to Buckhorn to have it chopped down from 24 inches to 21 inches and threaded.  They did a superb job and only charged $72.50 to do the job.

Just an FYI in case anyone is looking to get something similar done.

I heard that is where the gunsmith (or one of) from Shapel's (sp?) went.

I was thinking about having them brake my shortmag.

I built, from the ground up, my M1 Carbine, M1 Garand and M1A. After installing the barrels on the Carbine and Garand the receiver and barrel head spaced just fine. However the M1A was to tight and would not close on a "GO" gauge. The gunsmith at Buckhorns had to order in a reamer specifically to do the job and he cut the chamber perfectly. The bolt would close on a "GO" gauge and moved approximately .002" on a "NO GO". It don't get much better than that.

I was never charged for the reamer or any part of it, which makes sense as he will surely use it on other rifles, but still, it was a very good experience. I think he charged me around $75 to.

I highly recommend him.

He charged me 180.00 to fix my comander that RK screwed up. It is realy nice work, but it shot a foot low at 25 yds. and he wanted to charge me more to fix that. I thought it should have shot to point of aim for the 180.00. Joey fixed it for me.

YMMV
