Something else to consider:  http://www.doubletapammo.com/php/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_25&products_id=105

I feel the need to post a warning about these now.  I read all about the above rounds, have a pile of them, and just got out today to test them in my G20 and G29.

Glock doesn't sanction non-jacketed bullets in their stock barrels.  The general gist of things from the all knowing internet (grain of salt) is that there are problems with lead buildup from soft slugs, due to the polygonal rifling, leading to pressure spikes.  The above load is not soft in the slightest.  The owner of doubletap confirmed that it should not be an issue.

I loaded up one 15 round mag for the G20, checking every 3 rounds, and was kind of shocked to see visible lead buildup when all was said and done.  Thinking I just had a lead happy barrel, I repeated the test with my G29.  Hardly any lead this time, but still noticeable.

The owner of doubletap does recommend cleaning the barrel every 200 rounds if you use these things, and it'd seem that a mag or two will be fine.  But I think that I'll stick with doubletap's 200gr FMJ and XTP loads until I get around to getting a conventionally rifled aftermarket barrel for one of these guys...

Yes I have heard this quite often. Until I get an aftermarket barrel I think I will stick with FMJ rounds too. Thanks again NoviceHunter

I have some silvertips but haven't shot them yet. Are they pretty reliable as far as if I run into something in the woods?

As far as function goes, they have been 100% in the Kimber.  I haven't shot anything that bleeds with them, so can't provide data on that.  Maybe I'll go out and see if I can find a jack rabbit to volunteer to be a test subject.

What you have a Glock 20? Wow! Things certainly have changed since I last talked with you. Didn't you use to have a 23 and 30? Yeah, from what I hear inorder to shoot 10mm, you have to reload. I am just getting into reloading myself, I still have a few more things that I need to purchase and then I will be able to start reloading. Hope you enjoy the 20.

No you can buy HSM ammo for 14.50 a box same price as .45acp. And yes all I have glock wise now is a 19 and 20 but I got a Kimber .45. ;D

You can't go wrong with a Glock. The 10mm is pretty manageable (and it's a MANLY round) if I wasn't such a wimp I would have one...... The OD frame looks kind of spiffy.

It is really quite manageable. I have really been suprised, but I haven't used any hot loads either. It is a really nice shooting pistol. :)

Glock should not be shooting lead....
Pressure spikes makes for trouble, shoot a hundred no
problem one hundred and one KABOOM your choice.
the sign at the cliff said stay back OOPs he fell off.....one step to many
Glock says to shoot plated bullets of 15 to 18 thousands plating
of copper, Montana Gold meets that, westcoast didnt and several others.
Case in point watch what you load safe is a wise choice....

Lone Wolf 6" barrel was dead on-- seems even more accurate than the factory G20 barrel. Let alone the boost to the ballistics of the 10mm round with a 6" barrel. Very impressive!

Kind of neat 10mm sighting, watching Jack Hannas Wildlife on 24-7 with the kids and they were in Africa chasing radio collared lions.  Primary weapon was an extremely large bore double barreled shotgun (it was huge) and his side arm was a Colt Delta Elite in 10mm...cocked and locked!  So the 10mm is the choice for back up when stopping a lion...lol. ;D

I want to see pictures of the new barrel in the Glock if you can swing it? I have been thinking about getting one. Thanks

AGFEH, cmon lets be honest here, WHEN you wish to trade this G20 off, this is a gun I am interested in, make sure you stop in with it when that time comes, I will take care of you.
Thanks,

Look at the date for the first post from AGFEH about this Glock 20  "August 12, 2008, 07:37:11 PM"
Do you honestly think he still has this pistol? ???
I'm willing to bet that he has traded the gun that he traded for the Glock eight times over by now.
