Do 80% builds have much of a following here?

Just curious. Back in my previous state 80% builds we're picking up a pit of steam. I've done 5 or 6 AR builds machining my own lowers. I'll be doing a couple 1911 and a couple sigs this way as well.

rdboes:
Is that legal?  How much does it cost?

ida83704:
why, other than personally making something?

If you are concerned about full on confisication, almost everyone here is on the radar.

for example, If I was the beauracrat in charge of confisication anyone who got pinged in any of the following would be searched

CCW/CCL/CWP
hunting lincense
member of a gun forum
member of a gun club
parcipated in any shooting competition
ever filled out a 4473
ever purchased and firearm supplies/ammo with a credit card or check
Class 3 holder

sure there are mor, but that is a start

(not to be all doom and more doom)

Yeah it's legal. You can make firearms for your own personal use. It's bigger in Kali because every time you buy a lower you pay a fee to the state which at today's prices is 25% of the cost or more. I also do it because I enjoy it. I enjoy machining and to make my own stuff is fun.

It's more expensive than buying a stripped lower so cost savings go out the window.

Part of the reason I do it is because I can which is like a lot of things firearms related.

Emberglo:
Please forgive the ignorance, but what is an 80% build?  I've never heard of them before?
