United Pipe DOA? Need help finding new pipe supplier in Treasure Valley

(1/2) > >>

Spudgunner:
Wow, can this really be?  Went to call United Pipe this AM to get a quote on some 12" ADS plastic pipe and when I went to their website to get their number I was informed that they had shutdown operations in ID, WA, and OR.

Anybody out there know of an alternate supplier? I was very sorry to see United bite the dust.  I had always had good experiences with their people and the products they sold.

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

J Mack:
Not sure if they can supply your needs but Pipeco has always treated me fair.

According the the guys that bought the place on Victory United Pipe downsized their operation here and moved to a smaller building. I don't know why you couldn't get hold of them.

deepforks:
they are no longer around. some of their staff ended up going over to ferguson. if you are looking for another water works/pipe supplier, i highly recommend calling hd supply, in meridian. i work for a local city and have been using them for years. there are others too. hd fowler and consolidated supply are a couple more. be aware that most, if not all suppliers, are not keeping huge amounts of stock on hand. with the lack of building/development, it just doesnt make good business sense. good luck.

Spudgunner:
Ended-up going with HD Supply.  In my search I contacted ADS directly and the guy I talked to suggested Ferguson, HD Supply, Consolidated, or HD Fowler.  I also contacted Pipeco and Horizon.  Even though I had dealt with Horizon in the past, their bid was in the "outrageously high" stratosphere.  At least Horizon was quick to get back to me.  Pipeco's bid wasn't bad and they got extra points for their diligence in getting back to me as well.  My order was big enough (1000') that nobody I talked to had enough pipe on hand to fill the order...so deepforks' observation was on the mark.

The pipe isn't here yet, so we'll see how HD Supply does with this order.  By the way, the pipe type is 12" ADS N-12 ST IB.  It's the black, corrugated (outside) HDPE pipe with a smooth liner.

My thanks to those who contributed to this thread.
