On the road to reloading
« on: April 20, 2012, 12:37:39 PM »
I figure at some point I will want to start reloading so I may as well start buying stuff as deals present themselves. Today I went to a garage sale that listed 'reloading equipment' hoping for a deal on a press. Well, no press. In fact not much 'equipment' at all, mostly old brass and reloads of various and obscure caliber's. I did find this baby though:

I asked the guy how much and he said "well I could get $10 but I will take $5, plug it in over there and make sure it works"   :o

Well, it followed me home   ;D Might be a wee big, I could probably through every piece of brass I have in there and have room for more.

I guess now that I have such a significant investment in reloading equipment I have no choice but to follow through and buy the rest of what I need  ;)

nice, i paid around 60 for mine. If you wanna save a few more bucks go to petsmart and buy some 'lizard litter' its crushed walnut that half is much will cost to 4x as much else where. A bottle of 'nu finish' car wax and youve got your self enough polish and media for years,

I used the lizard litter and didn't have very good luck with it.
Then Travis had 50lb bags of cob for cheap so it wasn't saving me any money buying the lizard litter anyway.

I've had the big Dillon for a number of years. It really get's the job done. The big Dillon really out works the little tumblers. I had a big Lyman Turbo for almost 20yrs before it crapped out. The Dillon out classed it by a wide margin.

Mine's full of "lizard liter" and each batch of walnut has lasted extremely well. Say 20K rounds before changing. I use "Turtle Wax" when the litter is new to knock down the dust. I toss 4 used dryer sheets in with every batch of say 1k cases and turn it on for 2hrs. The cases come out looking like new. The dryer sheets suck up the carbon dust and help keep the litter clean.
Some people are like Slinkies - not really good for anything, but you can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.
