We drew in 49, anyone else go there?
« on: July 24, 2008, 04:27:40 PM »
We have hunted in the Sun Valley area since we where kids. We put in for doe tags this year in 49 (meat this year, trophy next) We now live in Boise and would be interested in anyone else who goes up to the valley to hunt? Maybe share the cooler space or just BS about the best spots to go.

We have never been skunked east of the highway or near square mountain.

We go up slaughterhouse, porcupine, martin canyons, to the summit, sometimes we come out the carey side, hunted there our  whole lives so we pretty much have an idea where to find the critters.

I admit we are pretty soft, we have a free guest house in Hailey so we usually come down every night and take a shower/relax, this year we may stay on top of bell mt a couple nights if for no other reason than to save gas.

Haven't hunted there since living in Hailey '95 - '97.

My memory of the general season is one of road hunters everywhere.
There are a great deal of out of county hunters ( I guess we fit that now ) from Twinkie Flats etc. Fortunately as you point out they are lazy ass road hunters. Anyone who takes the time to go to the mountain tops, get out of your truck and HUNT has no trouble filling tags. The road hunters move the game around for us (convenient side effect) and we have never been disappointed.

Ok hubby we know the stupid ass road hunters move them around for us but you got to admit every year we come home tagged out on deer because of the stupid road hunters!! so you going to sit at the bottom of the canyon and wait for me this year so i can hike down the mt to you and load them up in the truck for me :) i know you like to do that!!
