Springfield XDS
« on: January 17, 2012, 12:27:41 PM »
Most if not everyone here has probably handled and shot and XD or XDm.
Who is down for a slimmed down single stack version?
CCW anyone?
Even though you can't buy one yet it just moved to the top of my list.

Very few reviews, guess the guys at Springfield just surprised everyone at SHOT today.
No reason they won't make it in 9 and 40.

Check out this basic review.

Same here.
I'm a big fan sf Springfield and this looks like a good one, but who knows.

I am hoping that the weight they reported is a typo. 29oz empty seems steep, especially compared to a kahr CW45 at around 20 and a standard Xd45 at about 25.

That looks like it would be a nice combo with a Milt Sparks Summer Special 2.

When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice, for I am a hunter,
And I must have my freedom.

I doubt you shave off that much weight if all they're changing is the size of the frame at the magwell, it's mostly polymer anyway.

I think my stock g34 was 22 or 24 oz. hard to imagine a smaller polymer pistol weighing more.
although, most "empty" weights are with an empty mag as well.
could just be that you aren't comparing apples to apples.
Compared to my 9mm full size 1911 with one mag is 43 oz.... any of those are light!

I am waiting for it to become available. I carry a XD subcompact 40 now and it is a very comfortable carry. Another nice gun to add to my Springfield family.
