My New Glock
« on: December 11, 2011, 03:46:10 PM »
So I finally got my new Glock setup just the way I like it. I think it's going to be a winner.

Sorry, I just couldn't bring myself to shoot the Glock, as much as I tried too, it had a short lived life in my safe, and I turned it into a new 3 gun rifle. This is the Stag Arms 3G, 18" fluted barrrel, rifle length gas system, Samson 15" FF handguard, and joy of all joy's the Geissele S3G trigger.

Nice balance, great feel, and the trigger... I can see why you guys like the Geissele stuff, very nice.

The comp is just Stag Arms comp, I'll try it and see how I like it, but it will probably be swapped out for a PWS that I really like. The only other change will probably be to swap out the charging handle for the right side extended ones, can't remember the brand.

Now to go get it sighted in and wait for New Year's weekend!!!

I think the Heavens are back in order, you are rid of the Glock.

So you won' shoot a plastic and steel handgun...
But you'll shoot a plastic, aluminiun, and steel rifle....

Doesn't an AR contain more plastic by weight than a G_Lock?

there is sometihing to this, will have to ponder it...

 :) :)

Yes, the heavens are back in order, can I get an Amen!

Nothing wrong with plastic guns... XD and M&P's feel right, Glocks just not so much. Don't ponder too long  ;D

Anyone's welcome to shoot it, I'm at the range regularly, come on out.

I was going to go out today but just couldn't drag myself out of the house, so we'll find some time here shortly. Twist is a 1:8

Good meeting you hessmanca! Nice to put a face with the names here.

What do you think about the Samson hand guard? I am thinking about ordering one.

Playing with it here in the house, it's nice. Very light... I think it's one of the lightest 15" tubes out there, it's a hair over 13oz. The rail is very comfortable to hold, it comes with a couple of 2" and one 4" rail section that you can mount anywhere on the guard, at any clock position... so if I decide I want something up there, like a light I could do it.

The rail along the top is nice as I can position the optic a little farther forward and my grip/stance can be very aggressive for driving the gun around.

Did I mention it's light? I took it off to wipe everything down and it just about floated off the bench.  :o I liked the VTAC that JP has and I liked the DD as well, but now that I've got this one... no regrets.

As for the the magic money multiplyer... I used governmental accounting, with all the mods I would have done to the Glock, I saved myself a $200 getting this gun instead.  ;D

Are you planning on shooting 55, 60, 69 or 75 grainers out of it?

All right I went out and shot this new bad boy today... I like it, alot ;D

The rifle length, free floated system does have a different feel, and just about zero muzzle lift. I was watching my son shoot some 100yard steel standing and the gun was barely moving, he drilled the 100m then 200m gongs with 2 rounds each in rapid succession. When I was shooting, I could move from 100, 200, 300, and 400 with ease on with the hold overs. Very nice.

My 500 drop was off from what I calculated, so I'll have to adjust that, but wow, liking this thing.

I was only able to get 1.5" groups with my current load, which are 55gr FMJBT reloads, so I need to play with my load and maybe a little faster or slower, or I might even bump up to some 69 or other heavier bullet and see how they group.

The comp seems to work nice, and it's not as loud as the PWS, I might have to switch it out sometime and see what the difference is, for now I think I'll just leave that alone and run with it. This thing ate everything I fed it from the first round, no hiccups at all, and the trigger... 8) Very nice, quick reset is nice... I would love to run the 1,2 3, 4,5 vickers drill with this sometime and see how that compares with my other rifle.

I have officially broken the rifle in, and marred up the bottom of the free float from a table. I setup 6 clays at 100 yards and dropped down on a table and killed them all rather quickly.

I think it ready to go head to head with Jaggy's beast!  ;D

Yup, this Glock can shoot.

Did you put a mount on it, or still running the rings?
Wonder if the front ring being on the forend has anything to do with it.

I pulled the front ring off and moved it back, so it's a double ring on the rail of the upper and not spanning to the FF guard.

I"m trying to figure out what mount I would really want, but I'll run it this way for a while.

My load is a mass produced, load that I've never really put on paper, other than to say, yeah it will do 1" at 100yards, or there abouts... since most target are far bigger than that, I've never really tried to figure out the magic load with the 5.56.

Now that I've got this thing though, I think I'll spend some time and figure it out.
