Glock Manual?
« on: November 30, 2011, 08:34:51 AM »
I just broke down and traded for a new Glock 17 Gen 3. Does anyone have a manual on CD I could borrow. I want to tear it down and polish the internals and add an extended mag release. This one is not as intuitive in the breakdown as is a springfield Xd/Xdm.
No I'm not going to post a pic. If you don't know what a Glock looks like, you need to crawl out from under your rock.

Grab a punch or allen wrench.

There are 3 roll pins, pound the crap out of them till they come out... the gun falls apart in your hand.

Do said polishing... then pound the crap back out of the 3 the opposite way you drove them out.

load gun in dishwasher to apply final polish.

Go have fun.

BTW: I am a certified Glock Non-Armorer and have only done this once, so you can trust me.

Some people are like Slinkies - not really good for anything, but you can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

This is 99% accurate.  You shouldn't have to pound on any of the pins with a hammer.  All the pins will press out easily.  When you're taking out the trigger pin (the fat one above the trigger) you may have to move the slide stop lever a bit to get the pin out.  When reassembling, put the locking block pin (skinny one above the the trigger pin) in before you put the trigger  assembly, slide stop lever and trigger pin in.

Gun came apart quite easily, installed Ghost 3.5lb link, Glockworx spring kit, polished the internals, now has a great trigger. Just have to wait a bit for my wrist to heal so that I can wring it out. Partial tear in the tendon that connects to my trigger finger, getting better since I got it injected but still a bit sore.
