Do not use bore cleaner or any petroleum based lubricant on a black powder firearm.
This will cause excessive fouling...
Use only vegetable or animal based lubricants.
Grease is a good thing for BP firearms...unlike modern firearms...
Wash down that revolver well in hot soapy water...rinse, dry and apply a thin coat of Crisco, lard, or best yet.. Thompson Center Bore Butter.
Apply this to the outside as well as the bore and cylinders. This will soften the fouling a lot as you shoot.
Also, make sure that you are greasing over top of the loaded cylinders..this will prevent a chain fire and soften fouling.
Clean in hot soapy water when done and repeat above procedure...
For the trigger parts on the gun, an old trick is to use lamp black to lubricate the surfaces....
Also, only use black powder or a substitute like Pyrodex...NEVER use modern smokeless powders in a BP firearm...
Real black powder is the best if you can find it locally (I order mine through the mail).
