Help finding alfalfa hay
« on: October 30, 2011, 09:53:29 PM »
My sister is running into trouble finding hay. It seems to be in short supply here in the valley. Anyone got a line on 4 or 5 tons of hay?

Hard time of year and the price might as well have doubled since last season.  Craig's list is full of people in need, it's quite a turnaround.  I barely got mine and, for a second, I wasn't sure it was going to happen.  I'll try to help and call around but, expect to take out a loan for it.
Some poor dude is advertising he needs 45-50 ton! He's fu#@'d.

I don't know if this will help, but it looks like Washington has some.

We are going with straight grass hay this winter. I know where you can get it $180 a ton delivered. It is coming out of Lewiston. But, it is round bale, abot 850lb a bale.

If you check Craigslist there is a guy in Emmett with pure alfalfa for $225 ton, you pickup, and I think hw has alfalfa grass mix. All barn stored is what the add says. Claims to have 200 ton.

Prices are bad, but they are paying $500 a ton in Texas, so I guess we are lucky.

Feeding a 1/2 clydesdal 1/2 thoro draft. Got at least one and possibly two steer coming and looking at a Tenesse Walker. Since we are going round bale, we will also probably be feeding a lot of elk, but not by choice. The guy is supposed to be coming today with 4 ton and later this week with another 4 ton. I will get his contact info over to you later today. I'll also let you know what the quality looks like when it gets here.

Firewood is 180 a cord , 220 or more if you want it split .

Saw a guy with a trailer load of Alfalfa selling to the public on the side of highway 21, just before the bridge at lucky peak. didn't see prices, and unsure of how much he had for sale.

I only have 2 acres of hay but between my irrigation bill and using a custom cutter I have $85/ton in expenses before I even think about $$ and time spent on spraying, setting pipe, fertilizing etc.  No, I don't have any hay left....

He was selling hay at the fish and game inspection site. It was certified alfalfa. You are required to use certified weed free when you go into the forrest hunting with it. Keep invasive weeds out.

Scott, below is they guy I got my hay from. He delivered 4 ton today and it was ok. Nothing spectacular, but for the money, it is fine. I am getting another 4 ton in a couple days. 4 ton was 9 bales and they are big and very heavy. You will need a plan to move them around.

Good Grass hay for sale . Round bales. $180 a ton delivered to the Boise area. Please call 208-731-5659
