G. Nourse range question.
« on: October 30, 2011, 05:54:05 PM »
For those of you that frequent the G. Nourse range, it is common knowledge there are a few people that go out to the range to pick up brass that has been left behind. When I was assigned to that area, I checked the range every day, and would see them on a regular basis.  Usually in the morning.
Rumors are the guys are becoming more "bold", shall we say, as far as not waiting until the shooter leaves, and actually grab the brass while the shooter walks to retrieve/inspect/score their target.
Waiting until the donor leaves is fine, but grabbing it while the shooter is still there is........let's use the word "problematic".

Has anyone had this happen to them, or know first hand of it?

I have seen this happen. The last time I saw the guy picking up brass, the shooters were still shooting! This wa at the pit next to where I was shooting. When this guy comes to here I am shooting, I just tell him that I am taking my brass.

Oh yeah, any vehicle and person description?

So far, I have been told a short hispanic guy that needs to hit the salad bar. Silver or grey Honda car. The other is an older guy with a white minivan.

I too, have seen the hispanic guy, but not the guy in the minivan. I always pick up mine as I shoot, so he has never had the time to get to mine.

I have seen both out there quite often but never had a problem with them. I believe the white mini van isn't a problem anymore as he passed away. If its the same guy  ;)

Yea, I saw them today, sunny Sunday afternoon, the place was packed.  The vulchers were browsing in the car slowly cruising up and down the range making small talk with anyone who would indulge them.  It's a little uncomfortable or, maybe I just have a problem with folks casing around my area eyeballing every move.  I made sure they saw me picking up my own, and none stopped.

Last time I went out there the older guy in the white mini van tried to pick up my brass, i told him I was taking it and he left me alone the rest of my trip. About a year and a half ago a buddy left his gun out at the range on accident, the white minivan was about the only guy there and when we went back to the range he was still there. We asked him if he saw anyone take the gun or if he found it and he said nope, but were pretty sure he nabbed it.

I'm a dingleberry

On an unrelated note when you say in your signature line that you are a dingleberry am I missing something?

From Urban dictionary. Dingleberry:
A smallish, semi-dry, extraordinarily tenacious remnant of fecal matter which, when unwittingly rolled into a mixture with toilet paper lint by the action of wiping, becomes almost irremovably entangled among ones anal hair, a situationality exacerbated by the vigorous chafing and friction between the buttocks and most commonly remedied by the sad and almost entirely unavoidable remedy of plucking out at its root the individual hair to which each dingleberry is conjoined. Of related interest, dingleberries are often noted as having the vague odor of undigested corn or peanuts.
*Plink*

Ouch! Son of a bitch, that hurt!

Then, dingleberry is uphelp by a coarse and curly hair between the fingers about 6 inches in front of the face and marveled at by the viewer, who experiences waves of anger, wonder, and bitterness while contemplating in earnest the sordid and very stupid affair of shaving the unfortunate crease in his or her own ass.

no shit started :) like i said we didnt know anything for sure, he was there when we left and was the only one there when we got back and said no one else had been there and that he didnt take it. basic deduction led me to the conclusion that if no one else was there it didnt grow legs but its entirely possible he didnt see someone that did show up and take it.

regardless, sorry for your families loss.

ive seen the same guy in the silver car.  i was there earlier this year in early spring with my youngest brother and he was trolling the line for brass.  we stopped to reload mags and he approached us asking for brass.

at least he asked....  i would have been annoyed otherwise.

In my line of work I've seen just about every part of the human anatomy in some state of irritation yes, but in this case I was specifically refering to me not having a case of the red ass-figuratively of course. ;)

Enough thread hijacking, WTF were we talking about anyways? :-*

Cliff notes;
Bill was looking for some info on some "BOLD" guy’s approaching people and taking their brass without approval.

Everything was going swimmingly until Romo23 implied that AGFEH dead wives uncle could have been involved in a missing gun.

That’s when I noticed that AGFEH was referring to himself as a Dingleberry in his sig line and thought he might have confused his dingle with his huckle but I was wrong. He still believes he is a Dingleberry.

Romo23 and AGFEH kissed and made up and everything was going smoothly again when tgibson jumped in with group hugs and the whole thread turned red body parts making this possibly the most side tracked thread in BS’s history.

Thankfully Bill posted this in General Gun & Fun Talk and not General Gun & Serious Talk or it would have been removed by now.

J Mack, thanks lol

Val Kilmer ...he's my avatar  lol
I wasn't going to say anything about this but since you brought it up!
Val Kimer quote:

[Klosterman]: You mean you think you literally had the same experience as Doc Holliday?

Kilmer: Oh, sure. It's not like I believed that I shot somebody, but I absolutely know what it feels like to pull the trigger and take someone's life.

[Klosterman:] You understand how it feels to shoot someone as much as a person who has actually committed a murder?

[Kilmer] I understand it more. It's an actor's job. A guy who's lived through the horror of Vietnam has not spent his life preparing his mind for it. He's some punk. Most guys were borderline criminal or poor, and that's why they got sent to Vietnam. It was all the poor, wretched kids who got beat up by their dads, guys who didn't get on the football team, couldn't finagle a scholarship. They didn't have the emotional equipment to handle that experience. But this is what an actor trains to do. I can more effectively represent that kid in Vietnam than a guy who was there.
