Emergency field treatment of gunshot wounds - YouTube video
« on: September 26, 2011, 04:18:29 AM »
A nurse ("PatriotNurse") gives a very basic overview of emergency treatment of gunshot wounds when in the field.  Emphasis is on stopping bleeding.

Nurses, what are your professional opinions of this short video?  What should be added or modified?

"We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission - the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force."  ~ Ayn Rand

Good info for someone who does not have training. May I also add, RBBSFBH. Responsiveness, breathing, shock, fracture, burn, and head injury. Order of importance. This video is rather old as the CPR rules have changed. I don't quite agree with them but who am I? It is now CAB and not ABC. She is right circulation does no damn bit of good if you are just pumping blood out a hole. Also that maxi pad does not work well for a sucking chest wound. A small piece of plastic just big enough to cover the hole then apply the Maxie pad to catch the blood would be better. I am sure there is more but it is early and I just woke up. Forgot, the opening of the valve should be at the lowest point relative to the victims position.
