Sweet.

Someone on ARFCOM I don't even know gifted me a NRA membership. I haven't been one since I was a teenager. I picked American Hunter. Anyone know what other bennys come with membership?

Life member here..

The NRA sanctions shooting events, trains law enforcement, funds range development, provides range liability insurance, and educates children on firearms. The NRA does a lot of things for us shooters, but most importantly, it scares the shit out of antigun politicians. I LIKE that

I get the American rifleman.

EVERY gun owner should be a member of the NRA.

Bad LP, I can't believe that you shoot as much as you do, and own the kinds of guns you do, and your just now joining the NRA. Remember this you guys, if your not a member of at least two gun organizations, then you are helping the anti-gun people. It may be in a passive support mode, but helping them you are.

I easily get more spam from them than I do snail mail. Though I guess it's technically not spam as I'm sure that somewhere, somehow, I gave them permission to send it all to me.....

wierd. I get something in the mail from them practically once a week. the only e-mail i ever get is the NRA store "specials".

I get the store specials, legislative fund raising emails, insurance (snail mail to), credit card offers (snail mail to) and DVD offers. Theres a couple of other categories that I can't think of right now.

ETA: I have memberships in Gun Owners of America and the JPFO (it has open membership, you don't have to be Jewish), all I ever get from them besides yearly membership reminders is pro or anti gun legislation notifications/warnings.

BTW, both JPFO and GOA are hardcore no compromise organizations.

I was gifted a membership as well for being active duty.

i get the american rifleman magazine and thats about it i havent really noticed an increase in junk mail......yet

I got the same reminder. Sometimes I think they dupe me into paying my dues several times a year, seems like I just did this a few months ago.............

Life member since '89. Just missed on getting it for $250 by a month and ended up paying $500 instead. Still at today's life member fee's it was a good investment I think.

10k in ADD insurance LP.

I haven't got any junk mail from them in years. Just call and tell them to take you off their mailing lists.

Hopefully this is not indicative of the number of NRA members in the group. But I'll bet it's pretty close.

If all gun owners would unite together, I'll bet there would be *no* gun laws in the nation. Instead we procrastinate our rights away.

The NRA isn't perfect, but they are a *huge* lobby in Washington. And they stand a much better chance of getting anti-gun legislation overturned or defeated than both the GOA and JPFO do put together.

I didn't comment because I was blown away that luckypunk wasn't an NRA member and didn't know what the benefits were. $:-\$

I'm a life member and have been since the early '80's. I get the American Hunter since I got tired of the same old thing in the American Rifleman.

Not to single anyone out, but just in general from what I've seen from various forums. It amazes me how many people have nice gun collections but will not spend $500 or $600 on a gun safe. Same thing goes with bitching about the gun laws, proposed AWB's and such and yet so many do not contribute to the NRA, GOA or some other Pro 2nd amendment organization. No the NRA if far from perfect but they are better than nothing and there is power in numbers.

O.K. here goes:

NRA LIFE MEMBER (written in caps for, SPIFF), Gunowners of America (life member), Second Amendment Foundation (life member), Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (life member). Basically I want to tell the Govt. to keep there F-'ing HANDS OFF MY GUNS!!!..... I think George Washington said it best, "A free people ought to be armed".

As far as mags go: NRA's America's 1st Freedom (mostly politics), and NRA's Shooting Illustrated (latest toys).

P.S. This is probably why I have no cash for a AR..

Oh, I still donate, that's why I got no $$$.. I just feel those organizations save cash when they don't have to consonantly send me reminders, paper and postage and all. Plus they can focus on the job at hand, not reminding me to renew and possibly loosing a member. But, it's nice to know you care

.. BTW, when you become a life member they stop sending you all that junk mail. Depending on what one considers junk.
