38+ or 357 load
« on: July 05, 2008, 07:42:11 AM »
Recieved several thousand rounds of 38 brass and hard cast lead 150gr
bullets, as well as some 357 brass.
Looking for a load for target as well as plinking. Have a 357 with a 4" barrel as well as a 38 with a 6" barrel. Will load for my neighbor to have fun shooting, he's up in years so don't want a hot load.
 Thanks for your help.

I've loaded and shot thousands of wad cutters w/either green or red dot shotgun powder behind them when I had a .357, but don't own one anymore so can't give you specific charge weights, just be careful loading squib loads as it's easy to double charge!

Bullseye or Win 231 for the 38 special .

2.8-4.0 of bullseye or 3.5-4.7 of 231 .

I always liked 231 in my .45's so it made good sense to use it in my .357 GP100 when I had it . I never shot lead bullets in it though .

For a nice shooting fun, plinker load for a .38spl. try 3.9gr of HP38 behind a 125gr. Laser-Cast.
My wife is also recoil sensitive, so this is a good load for anyone concerned about recoil.
I have loaded over 11,000 of these rounds and no leading problems.
For the 150gr. loads I would go to the www.laser-cast.com
Follow the links to the load data.
