Cell/Internet on base
« on: August 18, 2011, 09:17:37 PM »
So have spent the last five weeks at NAS Lemoore CA doing some work on the barracks and one thing that has pissed me off is my cell phone and internet does not work on base (we are living on base so here ALL the time) and basically have to drive to the town of Lemoore and sit in the store parking lot to use my phone/internet.  Now I realize this could be for security reasons?  Has any one heard of this before?  Maybe a security blocker for some reason.

Could just be terrible coverage, there's parts of Sheppard AFB that I couldn't get reception on to save my life.

Thats what I thought but the base is not really that big and its like a cell phone "black hole" you drive a half mile in any direction from the perimeter and you have full bars.  There are places I get full bars on the base and still can not dial...its AREA 51 MAN!! :tinfoil:

when i was at pendelton there was no coverage on most of the base. Geography played a huge part and i also think the marines limited private development on base (just an assumption). our radios also didnt work for shit on base (prick 119) cause of the geography. seriously this was the shittiest piece of gear i ever carried that includes my gear that was missing parts.

That explains a lot WTF  ;) this is the worst place...hot and nothing to do here.  I dont gamble (casino out) grass is dead (golf is out) and they WILL NOT take me for an F-18 plane ride...I mean come on. ;D  What did you do here locally?  I know San Fran and LA and Fresno have stuff but after a full day its like dang I dont want to drive anywhere.

Are they running any CREWS systems on base?  Those will knock out any cell phone signals for sure.

That was my thought as well Idahogunnut, but realistically, they would have no reason to in the states...now, on the other hand, they may have jammers against eavesdropping equipment depending on what they are doing on that base. Most likely though, I imagine it's the geographical location.

Fresno was once a nice city, but it is now overrun by gangs, and has turned into cesspool of crime, its just like LA used to be in the 80's.

you can always drive west to coalinga, another one of the towns i grew up in. and head up to los gatos canyon for some pig hunting. other places to go is San Luis Obispo, or head to morro bay for a day trip for some seafood. not a lot of entertainment. that place in the valley it just said, only real thing to do is drink and fuck.

Oh believe me I have been drinking (I have not drank this much since I was in the Navy) and with my wife in Idaho kind of screwed on the fuck thing.   But our boss did buy us a PS3 so playing the hell out of it.
