Reports like this make me want a holster sewn into my pajamas.  http://www.ktvb.com/news/Armed-Home-Invasion-Suspects-still-on-the-loose-127296213.html

Boise -- Police are looking for four armed men who kicked in the door to a downtown Boise apartment to steal guns and money.

Boise Police say the men, who were wearing masks, entered the apartment and held up the people who live inside at gunpoint.

Investigators do not believe this was a random act. They believe the apartment on Main Street and South 4th Street was targeted.

"We believe the suspects in this case actually knew where they were going to," explained Lt. Alan Cavener with the Boise Police Department. "They came here with the intent to steal both money and property. They came armed with guns, they kicked in a door."

Police are asking for witnesses who may have seen or heard something in the neighborhood to come forward and speak with police.

"This is a violent crime," said Lt. Cavener. "It's fairly rare in Boise to have this kind of violent crime occur, so we really want to catch the suspects in this case."

If you have any information about the armed robbery, you are asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.

Article should have read, "4 Armed Men shot dead trying to enter house of American Citizen"

No word on how many holes were in the men, but source say that 4-19 round magazines were found empty near the home owner, as well as what looked like a case of empty shotgun shells. The homeowner said he was scared for his life.

The local police were heard saying, "man they picked the wrong house" as they were leaving the scene.

Sounds like there must be more to this story.  Any idea how the 4 knew there'd be money/guns in that particular apartment?

Story mentions it probably wasn't random, but doesn't have any more detail than that.

It could be as simple as someone not being careful when going to/from the range, or poor information control from bumper stickers, or window stickers that indicated that guns were likely in the house.

Obvious somebody had solid info that there was money to be had and felt that their chance of getting shot by the occupant(s) was low, why take the chance otherwise. ::) I'd take a close look at friends or recent unknown visitors. Screams inside job to me, but I'm the suspicious type. Guess I'm gonna have to institute opern carry in the house.

So.... what did they actually take?  The report doesn't say wether the robbers actually scored or not!

I hope your pal is okay and will stress too much over the events Romo.  The bad guys knew what they were after and knew how to get it.  There wasn't any pussy footing around.  I'd agree with FJ, "friend of a friend" is written all over this.

It was a poker night. And I guess one Guy had a 22 rifle and the other had a 12gauge. Don't know about you guys but I'd have handed over my wallet even if I was packing. If a Guy with shotgun had the drop on me. Unless it looked like it was going south and I was gonna get shot anyway. Romo  and I are encouraging him to get his ccw.

from what hes told me 4 guys broke kicked in the door. 3 armed with 10/22 rifles one guy with a 12 gauge 18 inch shotgun. they were doing poker night they do usually do every so often. the 10/22's were fired in the house (hopefully some fingerprints on casings?), and they were sitting down and before anyone knew what was happening guns were pointed at everyone (they really probably would have been shot if they tried to draw, also they came in the back door which if everyones at the table they are essentially breaking in to their backs.). they took everyone's wallets, phones, valuables, all the money and whatever else was of value and easy to move. estimates of anywhere between 2 and 5 grand by the time you add up the valuables, the phones, the wallets etc.

my friend is going to get his ccw, decided that about 15 seconds into the ordeal lol.

but the bg's definitely knew when the game was going down, where money was kept, and where the valuables were stored in the house. so my guess would also be that a friend told a friend etc. and eventually someone said me and my buddies can make easy cash.

also the news report earlier said money and guns were taken but my buddy is pretty sure none of the victims had a gun.

Suspects are in custody.  Two I know for sure are in Canyon County jail with million dollar bonds.

I didn't realize Boise had such a crime problem.  Sounds pretty hardcore.. I guess this could happen everywhere and anywhere.. Doesn't sound like they were all that professional wielding 10/22s.. It sounds like it was something done by a bunch of desperate guys who wanted a quick fix.

IMHO the Solution to idiots like this is when they come through the door immediately turn them into a stain on the floor.
America is at an awkward stage, it's too late to work within the system, and to early to shoot the bastards.

Also a good reason to have at least one or two big dogs.  The dogs would have alerted on the guys breaking in and distracted them long enough for the poker players to draw their weapons IF they had any.  Personally, I always keep my doors locked when I'm home and at least one handgun within reach at all times.

I've lived in Idaho for 5 years, and this is the first incident of this type that I've heard of.  I wouldn't describe Boise as having a crime problem in general, let alone a home invasion one.
