I had a couple of good days and one really bad day, which funny enough on my off day RK was on FIRE! and shot like a madman! Nobody could beat him.

That RK... yeah, he does that!  Which goes to show, any one of us could one day be a GM.  But before that day occurs, I (we) need to work on being consistent.

Based on the intended use, I still say get the 17 or 34.  I'm with RG.  G19's are great to carry, but I always pinch my palm between the mag and frame when I rush a reload.  Besides which, it doesn't sounds like this is going to be a CCW gun, which would be the only reason in my mind why the 19 would be considered.  No real need for it to be a G35 unless you wanted to shoot it in a match that requires major PF.

Gen 3 vs Gen 4... no clue.  I think at present time there are more after market parts available for the Gen 3.  But that will change in time.

There was a recent recall on some gen 4 9mm. Being a 1911 guy, you might like the gen 4 better with the replaceable backstrap and add a mgm beavertail.

I hear the Gen4 G17 is OK and the Gen4 G19 has problems.

G18 and if you have to ask why i will revoke your man card.

Well the way the OP was worded no doubt this is the right answer.

But as far as which Glock to buy I'd have to say the G23 and in Gen 4 since you get the new features but not the reliability issues some of the Gen 4 9mms have had (at least the early ones).

The 23/19 is a perfect compromise in size and concealability. Hard to choose between 9 and 40 but the latter does start with 4 and that means something to many of us. 9mm is cheaper for practice ammo but loses that advantage when you buy good JHPs.

Check out as many calibers as you can and shoot as many Glocks as possible.

you guys.... ::)
Gen 3 g17, the only way to go, much easier to customize, better trigger than the gen 4, I don't like the 4 springs in the recoil system in the gen 4 and a glock tail can usally solve all problems related to grip. IMHO
Did miss you EKUO at the match, we did have a ton of fun huh BK ?

I missed you as well, Pops!

Unfortunately had to go to Salmon and didn't get back into town until Friday evening.  Duty was calling in her usual shrieking insistent manner, and I was kind of pooped out by the time I got home (plus my honey-do list was almost as tall as the grass...).  This time of year is always a gamble for me, so I'm just happy to make the matches that I can.

Sounds like it was a great match and I was sorry to have missed it.

I still say G17 or G34!

My opinion is that the best Glocky like gun is the S&W M&P series.  This gun is everything the Glock wishes it could be.  From what I've read the construction is much better and the gun fits much nicer in the hand.  I have fired both of these guns and I adore the S&W M&P so much.  I like the light DA pull and lack of safeties on Glock-type handguns.  Personally, I am not the biggest fan of 1911 guns for conceal carry.  Maybe, it is just because from day one, I trained with Glock/M&P like guns.  I don't like dealing with a switch safety in SHTF situation.

If you haven't tried M&P I suggest you should.  Glocks are a good concept, but to me, they are incomplete due to the lack of thought about the gun ergonomics.  Perhaps, if Glocks would modify their grip structure I'd have a different view of them.  Also, I hear S&W M&Ps will outlast the Glock. The components of the M&P are higher quality/more durable.  I don't have any facts to present you here, but have read about this in several articles.

I own the M&P 9mm and 45 models.  The M&P 45 really shoots nicely with almost no noticeable recoil, compared to the 1911s I have shot.

As long as you avoid European ammos with hard primers, you should never have a hiccup.  My M&P 45 was operating flawlessly until I decided to try the Fiocchi purple box with it.  It realy hated that stuff and would stovepipe and fail to cycle constantly.  I resorted back to factory Winchester/Remington ammo for 300rds in one day without cleaning/lubing and had not one issue.

Good job BK!

You're all wrong  ;)

G30 cause it's
1. a .45
2. concealable
3. will accept g21 mags

Been fondling the black monsters here and have come to this revelation:

G17 or G34 are the 2 to choose from, however.. the Gen 4 just plain feels more comfortable, with the mag relase, grip texture, etc... than the Gen 3, so I'm leaning towards the Gen 4.

The G17 can be had used for cheap around $300 if you play your cards right, while the used G34s are more money... so my thinking is why waste a perfectly good opportunity to get a G34 that would have a higher trade/resale should my Glock rash continue after purchasing, on a G17 that if I want to buy one I can get for cheap.

So that said, the G34 is the the gun, but Gen 3 or 4? I've read a bunch, lovers and haters of both... any opinions on the 3 vs 4 in the G34 Model? Trigger is slightly lighter, and the recoil spring system is different, the plastic sights got to go on whatever model I get so that's not a deal maker for me, but I really like the mag release on the Gen 4, I can punch it without loosing my grip at all, which is nice.

Other thoughts? Again, not for carry, car gun, backpack, and the occasional shooting match, with the option of trading or selling if it's just not working and I want the XDm Competition gun instead. :-)

Ha ha, I'm wondering if fondling my G35 yesterday had anything to do with this...

Mods on that one:
Warren-Sevigney Competition sights.  Front is .115" wide and rear has a .140" notch (need to check because it might be a .156").  All I know is, the rear notch is huge.  By comparison, the notch on the Bomar-style adjustable that STI uses is .115" wide.  If I had to do it again I'd probably try and find a Warren or Heinie with a .125" notch to go along with the .115" wide front (still might).

I did my own 25 cent trigger job plus added a 3.5 lb connector and 6 lb trigger reset spring.  Big difference over stock.  I'm pretty sure the G34/35 come from the factory with a 4.5 lb connector and a 5 lb reset spring.  If you wanted to invest some cash, there are a few drop in trigger kits that make a huge difference.  Nick W. has one in his G34 that it pretty awesome, but I can't remember which brand.

Yesterday my G35 had the stock recoil rod and spring installed (17 lbs) to go along with the social ammo in the mag.  When shooting comp, I change it back to a 15 lb recoil spring on an ISMI captured guide rod.  I also played around with a 13 lb spring, but settled on the 15 for my reloads.

Decal grip kit -cheap but effective.  Shooting WHO without some more gription was... difficult.

Ditched the extended slide stop for the standard OEM one that comes stock on any SF Glock.  The extended one was sticking out a little too far and I would sometimes bump it when shooting.

If I need a magwell, I have a Dawson ICE with heavy plug.

Mags are the stock ones, but very easy to install a Dawson or Arredondo +5 basepad.  For social use I use the stock mags.  Oh, yeah, the Glock mags fit in my Safariland 771 mag pouches that I use for the 2011.  Bonus.  Thought about asking Rick to make me holster for the G35, but just the pouch that I can swap out with the DOH attachment that I use for the 2011.

Other than fondling, I don't have any first hand experience with the Gen 4.  Tommy T told me that he has gone thru 8 Gen 3's in the last 10 yrs, and this year he bought a Gen 4 G17.  That changed his entire opinion on Glocks in general.  Not sure if it was the smaller backstrap or dual recoil spring system.

I like the G19. Perfect for me, but, then again, I'm awesome.   ;D

Plus the mags fit into the Kel tec sub 2000 carbine.   :)

Nice crj...hehehe.  G17 or G19...depends if you have "man hands" or "dainty hands"...I like em both.
