Savage 110 Bolt question
« on: July 25, 2011, 05:41:13 PM »
Trying to find out the best ways to make the bolt on a savage 110 work a little less stiff....

Any info will be helpful, thanks.
America is at an awkward stage, it's too late to work within the system, and to early to shoot the bastards.

Go here      http://www.steyrscout.org/savscout.htm

and look under tips and tricks.  Hope that helps.  ;)
When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice, for I am a hunter,
And I must have my freedom.

Thanks, Been to that page before although my bolt handle setup is slightly different as I discovered when I tried to just put a longer bolt handle on it...

(will try to take photos to post later)

also, most of the "Stiffness" appears to come from the weight of a spring in the trigger reset mechanism.

Yeah Savage likes to changes things up from time to time.  Dicks.  How many rounds do you have through the rifle?

Not many, 40 mabie.

did find today that if I tighten the bolt that holds the handle on 2 ft lbs less than spec that it operates a lot smoother.

As long as it stays put and you don't have ignition problems.

DUH now I get it  ::)  I thought you meant you polished the tip of something in particular.  Yeah that worked on mine too.  ;)
