I have a midway account. (I think spiff does too) NOT a dealer account but just my reular account that i order through all the time.

As we seem to have time (sale does not end until Mar. 31), let me send in my C&R information and see if we can get even more of a discount with it. I won't be able to fax it in until tomorrow though. If they even let you fax them in, the laws have changed about FFL's allowing you to fax them, but Midway might have their own rules.

ETA: I just checked with Midway and they will let me fax my C&R to them. I'll be home for lunch today and I'll pick up a copy and fax it this afternoon. I usually have a least a few copies stashed in my brief case (just in case

), but there are none there now.

Also, I think JS gets a dealer discount. But I'm not sure.

Sorry...I flunked the website orientation class

Ramshot TAC is supposedly a wonderfull powder...look at all the good reviews about it on the web.
Everything I read about it says that it is good stuff.

This is NEW powder with a proven track record at surplus powder prices

I think I could do 8lbs...maybe more.

I'll do some research and see if it turns me on. I had figured to buy a pound of powder locally and do some load development before buying a bunch. Just to make sure that me + gun + powder = good stuff.

I've heard and read good things about TAC as well. I've never tried it myself.

i'm just planning to load range fodder with it anyway so it doesn't really matter to me. if it turns out to be a good target load as well, then that just makes the deal all that much better.

So today I loaded the last bit of benchmark I had.

The last 20 rounds I was tapping the measure & weighing each drop to see when it would start getting light. The last round I loaded was 6 grains light. I tap the measure & drop again...To my amazement, 5 grains come out the, measure is empty & my last load is only 1 grain light! I was wondering what I'd do with 10 or 12 grains of powder.

anyway, Since I am out of powder, I'm going to buy 1 pound of TAC local & get some loaded for this WE. Someone PLEASE bring their Chrony & we'll see how it does against Benchmark... or what you're using. I can bring some to pizza if someone wants to roll some.

IF IT IS COMPARABLE I will buy the remaining pounds of the second order (-/+44#)....or just make a complete order of 48 myself, whichever is easier.

I'm going to buy one pound of Tac to try Saturday also. I still have about 2 - 3 pounds of Data 68 (it's in an 8 pound jug so I can't really tell for sure), but that won't last long.

Everyone else. If you want to bring your $$ Thursday night I'll place the order. Unless we want to wait and see how Tac shoots. But I can't imagine it would shoot badly. Most modern powders shoot very well, just a matter of finding the sweet spot.

OK, I have TAC in the powder measure and it gets an A for handling characteristics. It seems to fluctuate +/- .05 gr vs .1 with benchmark. A load that measured 25 gr. of benchmark was 28gr of TAC. A much finer grain. I'm thinking stray grains will be less detrimental to press operation

The 48 lbs. will likely be a go for me. What is the NRA roundup price?

OMFG!

So earlier I was running TAC through my powder measure to make sure I was happy with how it was measuring...I made probably 15 drops.

Well, by habit, I put the same case at station 1 to knock off a few rounds. Apparently repeated handling of the case rubbed off all the lube......folded the rim like a taco....So unless I get this stuck case out, I loaded a grand total of 1 round w/ TAC for me to test Sat.

Heck, I ruined a .308 sizing die about 6 months ago by getting a case stuck in it and trying to dig it out. Thats when I switched from Hornady One Shot to Dillons case lube (The Cabelas stuff is the same as Dillons). The Dillon case lube is a better lube from a lubricity standpoint, but it's easier to get hydraulic dings with it if your not careful.

Take your die apart, spray some lube down in along the top of the case and the die, insert small dowel down into case from the top of the die, pound out lightly with a hammer.

Sound advice, if you can get your die apart. I could not get my expander ball to pull back out of the case.

Ended up tearing the base off the case and then I really was fucked!!

Update on stuck case:

I used a method found on ARFCOM. You start by removing the decapper, drill out the primer hole (I used 13/64), tap for 1/4" (14.99 tap & die set @ china freight tools) invert a socket over case head, use a 1/4" bolt to pull case

not my pict., but I did the same thing. Works great. You'all are welcome to use the tap set anytime

I was going to wait until today, but got worried they might run out and put in last light.
