Hello, name is Stephen and am Idaho born and raised.  Grew up in Emmett and now currently live in Boise with my wife and two children.  Spent some time in Columbus where I attended university at Ohio State, hence the screen name.  My first experience with a firearm was when I was 9 shooting empty soda cans with my stepdad, ever since then I have been hooked.  I would call myself a casual shooter who is interested in all things that relates to firearms. Recently I've picked up reloading and am really interested in learning more about IDPA and Steel Match competitions.  I joined BoiseShooters to learn more from those who have been doing this a lot longer than I have and hopefuly I'll be able to provide my experiences to others later down the road.  Thank you and I am looking forward to everything BoiseShooters has to offer.

If you haven't, check out the Shooting Sports subforum for match information, discussion, and some stickies that try to provide an overview of what to expect in shooting competition. 

As you mentioned IDPA and steel shoots, there are a few upcoming matches that you may be interested in:

IDPA is held twice a month:  2nd Saturday at Nampa and 4th Saturday at Parma.  Both put on quality matches.  Start time during the summer is usually 0900 hrs.  Fee:  $10/shooter.

Steel Challenge is held twice a week:  Monday nights at Nampa and Tuesday nights at Emmett.  Both typically start around 1800 hrs, and last until 1930 or so.  Fee:  $5/shooter. 

Hell, while you're at it, may as well give USPSA a try.  Three matches a month at Nampa, Parma, and Emmett.
