Bipod Stud Mount?
« on: June 08, 2011, 07:15:55 PM »
Hey folks, I need to mount a bipod stud on a .30-06 handed to me by my grandfather.  It has a traditional wood stock.  I am going to be using it for hunting for the first time this season and I would like to mount a bipod to it.  It does not have the bipod stud.  I found this on midway:

Does anyone have experience doing this...is this even the correct stud?  I am confused, as it states it is manufacturer# HB2R.  Down at the bottom, it provides a list of which each model stud is for.  Under 2R, it states, "Has radiused flange for mounting to wood fore-ends under magazines or gas tubes..." My understanding is is that it would not be anywhere near the mag and there is no gas tube, so I'm a tad confused.  Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all!

I use the one's that they sell at Cabelas that have threads that look like a wood screw and screw directly into the stock.
Use a pilot drill first to prevent the stock from splitting.

Now, I keep reading about just using shooting sticks, Stoney Point Shooting Sticks?  I know it's off topic, but can't I hijack my own thread to change its course?  :P

Just into the stock.
