Good source for Jerry Can's
« on: June 03, 2011, 02:24:44 PM »
Looking for a local source for good jerry cans.  I'm tired of these crappy CARB compliant cans you find at Lowe's or Home Depot.  Anyone know of a good local source for some USGI MFC's or metal cans?  Thanks for your help.

My God, how many do you need?  I 've got probably 100 of them. What year and manufacture do you need?  Alex over at Idaho Motor Pool used to have pallets of them.  (I haven't looked to see if he still does)
Mine are collectors, not so much users. (Yes, there is a large collectors value on some of them---military, not civilian) For the most part, the easiest way to tell the difference-if it hasn't been changed- is the lid. If the four "fingers" to grab and twist open the lid are bent straight up, it's civilian. If they are round, it is  more than likely military. The date is underneath on the gas cans, on the side of the plastic Spector cans, and next to the lid on the water cans.
If you want a plain ol' fashioned 5 gallon "Jerry can" for actual use, I might have a few. (I don't have any DD'S to let go of.)
I don't have any of the newer Spector fuel cans, and maybe one or two water cans.

Looking for ones to use.  I'm not a collector, so the only condition is that they don't leak.  I don't care about color or date as long as we are not talking WWII or Vietnam.  Are these the metal or plastic ones?

Would like to use them primarily for diesel, but as i understand it, you can put new gaskets in the gas ones to handle diesel.

Give me a Heads up if anyone finds some of the Newer Plastic Military Jerry Cans I could use 4 of them.

Cant stand the things the stores sell.
America is at an awkward stage, it's too late to work within the system, and to early to shoot the bastards.

Because you can't legally use/sell/import them new anymore, they are spendy. But if you want to pay about $65 to $70 per can, pm me and I can send you to a guy that has them. We has water and diesel scepter cans, new. He also has the donkey dicks you will need to use them.
