308 bullets for reloading
« on: June 16, 2008, 07:55:39 AM »
Pat's Reloading - I talked to Pat and he said they are about a month behind on shipping and two more weeks before they get the resizing machine back in operation. But at under $80 a 1000 and $14 shipping on up to 3000 bullets it's a bargain I believe. Pat said that the resized bullets are comparable to the Winchester bullet.

Ordered 2000 and probably should have ordered more -

I thought they shot pretty well. Out of the M-14 I got 2700 for velocities using some Russian surplus powder. The powder is dubiously called 4895 but it burns slower. I was at case capacity from my visual of the loads. A compressed load shouldn't be too bad as Jeff Bartlett said it is stable. I believe that as even with the few compressed loads I shot I was not getting any pressure signs.

For the money they are great bullets. 60% could be scaled out and used as a standard accuracy load I believe. I am going to keep fooling with it and if they work out as well as they have so far I'm going to replace my Nosler 168s with them.

And he was only a couple of weeks out - I received them fairly quickly - - -

hitechammo has new .308 M852 168 gr. HPBT Match for $80 / 500 plus about $15 shipping, these are 168 grain MatchKing bullets made for the military.

I ordered 500, got them in less than a week, very good quality and accurate.  '
