Powder fouling, removal?
« on: April 29, 2011, 08:55:47 PM »
Shooting my AR with a can on it I get massive powder fouling and have tried a bunch of different things but still can't get it out >:(

Any ideas would help.

Thanks

I'm right there with KTM... Simple Green and hot water.
Make sure you dilute it though and rinse thoroughly.

Yes it is.

I have used Simple Green, we used it on our M-60's in my machinegun section.  5 gallon bucket full of hot water and about half a bottle got a lot of the crud off.  The armory wouldn't take the guns back until we slathered them down with CLP so they didn't smell like Simple Green.   ;)  I like the carbon killer because it works better on the caked on thick hard stuff.  Simple Green works better as a all around cleaner degreaser.

I get mine from a buddy at a car dealership it comes in an fuel injector cleaning kit and it's too strong for them and leaves a slight oil residue but perfect for cleaning guns and better than anything else I've tried.

I believe NO-0NE  and Steve N where able to track some down at an auto parts store, maybe one of them will chime in.
If you can't find any locally shoot me a PM and I'll get you a can to try

I don't get out of Emmett much except for shoots, I would give it a fair shake though.
