Practical Precision Steel Match-Parma April 2
« on: March 29, 2011, 12:10:42 PM »
Practical precision steel match

Tactical rifle matches commonly have stages requiring accuracy while working under time and positional constraints.  This event is designed to provide marksmen with a taste of these stages. A variety of scenarios will be employed using steel reactive targets.  The target sizes (generally 1-6 MOA) and distances (100-725 yds) will vary with the stage.  Mandatory reloads and positional/location changes will be common in the course-of-fire.  This is the first running of the match, so we may change things on the fly.  We are trying to not make this unreasonably difficult or easy.

1.       Safety briefing begins at 1:00pm and the event will begin promptly afterward.

2.       The fee will be $10 (cash).

3.       There will be approximately 8 stages requiring 50 rounds.

4.       An optional stage at the end of the event will be available using a maximum of 10 rounds.

5.       Participants must have all equipment with them, must carry all of their gear, and can use only one rifle, which cannot be altered during the event.

6.       No alibis.

7.       Use of empty chamber indicators (ECI) is appreciated.

Any action is OK.
Maximum velocity is 3200 feet per second muzzle velocity to protect targets.
Maximum caliber is 8mm.
No magazine capacity restriction

I've been working on my positional constraints but unfortunately I have to work on the 2nd.

I'd like to try to make it out to one of your shoots sometime soon!

This is a new type of match to the area.

match fee is only $10.
max distance is 725 yards on steel, so a .223 bolt gun or AR15 with the proper optic is possible and won't bust the ammo budget.
50 rounds scored, so again easy on the ammo budget.

email Shane to sign up
Should be a fun match

pretty sure those Brits are doing it wrong..........
Ear goes on the hipbone, shoulder to the belly buttton, forehead on the dirt.
Sandbag on the sacrum, not the lower back
finger goes on the trigger when the bolt is closed
It is the little things, which is why the US snipers kinda rule...........

Should be a fun match

Everyone starts as a Rook, I'd suggest 'learn by doing' so grab your stuff and shoot the match.

Biggest mistake people make, assuming that everyone that shoots a match is a master class shooter.

Not True, the bulk of the shooting sports are made up of beginner and intermediate shooters that just like to get together and shoot. They find the conversation and like mindedness of people to be refreshing.

And to be honest, after you shoot a match, you find yourself wondering when in the world you would just go out to a range and plink and normal targets, matches are so much more fun!

Grab your gun and come one out, if something doesn't work, we'll help you get it fixed or at the very least you know what you need to replace on your gun.

Yes, and on top of those 2 events the 4H'ers will be out using the range as well.

It's a busy place on the weekends and getting busier all the time

Quick question since I don’t know much about this match, what is the popular caliber and weapon of choice?
