Shoot for a Cure 2011
« on: February 10, 2011, 06:37:04 PM »
I know a lot of people have been wondering about SFAC 2011. I am happy to announce that Shoot for a Cure 2011 will take place at Nampa Rod and Gun Club Outdoor Range this year! ;D Nampa is making many improvements this spring and SFAC will be the first match that gets to try them out! :D The Nampa Rod and Gun Club Board of Directors welcomed the opportunity to sponsor SFAC. We are thrilled to be able to work with this great group and bring a "Major Match" to their range.
As in years past, SFAC will take place the Saturday after Mother's Day, May 14.Your $35.00 registration fee gets you a goodie bag, shirt, lunch and a prize at the end of the shoot!
Over the past 3 years Shoot for a Cure has been responsible for $15,971.19 being donated to St. Luke's / MSTI Breast Care Center. Many thanks to the shooters of years past for your generous donations! We are planning to continue donating funds raised to St. Luke's / MSTI, a facility that is in Treasure Valley helping women of Treasure Valley.
Information is now available atwww.nragc.com You can find our flier, registration forms, waivers, general information, and maps to the range.
We are hoping to receive donations for SFAC 2011 prize table from our generous sponsors of years past. IAWCA has already told me of a PINK!DIGITAL!!CAMO!!PISTOL 8) they are donating. Alpha Omega, Charter Arms and Sheepdog Ammo will be donating guns for the prize table. SFAC friends Rhonda, Jan, Carrie Anne and the Chick Chat group will be working hard to gather prizes for everyone that shoots.
Feel free to contact me if you have questions at tina@sheepdogammo.com We look forward to seeing shooters from years past and new shooters at Nampa Rod And Gun Club!

Not at all! The only restriction is no one under 16 at the range that day! Lots of new shooters along with experienced shooters. A lot of fun for a great cause!

Me too.  Already emailed Sheepdog.  Unfortunately the Mrs has a dog-agility trial that day, so I'm going stag.

Me and the Mrs. will be there. I will provide some more sharpening certificates for the prize table and will bring along my Aid Bag too, just in case.

Oh man, don't jinx us!  But if you want to be prepared, I think a role of duct tape for all the ladies who wear low-cut halter tops would do more to prevent any accidents.  I lost count of the number of times hot brass went down the front of some lady's shirt front, and the subsequent jumping around / waving a loaded pistol that ensued.

I carry it every year. Chance favors the prepared. Strategically placed duct tape is a good idea but despite the peril those were some good laughs.

Having been the victim of hot brass down the shirt front,:o I can now laugh about this. ::)Thanks everyone for your offers of help, and donation of prize table goodies! As always we welcome your assistance. This year we will have our 1st responders spread around between squads. I'm hoping Nicole will make us one of her fantastic scrapbooks again! We will have things worked out that didn't go as smooth as planned last year. Every year is still a learning experience! I picked up fliers today. If you see somewhere that needs one, let me know. (Give us a little time to spread them around!) I will be at the Nampa Gun Show this weekend if anyone wants to grab a few to post around!
Looking forward to having some new shooters and seeing ones that have helped make SFAC a success in the past ;)

We went to an IAWCA meeting tonight. We checked out the pistol they are donating to SFAC 2011. It is really cool! 8)  Digital pink camo, threaded barrel, nice prize! You can check it out on Shoot for a Cure 2011 facebook page. Thanks IAWCA for all your support for the past 3 years and at SFAC 2011. The generous donation your club makes to the prize table, the chance for any registered shooter to shoot your machine guns, and the team that you folks field is appreciated by all of us!  :-*

My wife and I would are interested in going, we just had a few questions.

What distances would we be shooting?  Would we be shooting at paper targets or steel?  Is this something a person could do with a personal defense type gun, or is it geared for more of a target pistol? Are there any caliber restriction or preferences?

Sorry for all the questions, we just wanna be geared up and ready!!

Thanks

Rob

We would be happy to have you and your wife come shoot! Distance is maybe out to 15 yards. You shoot paper and steel. Use the handgun you are comfortable with. With ammo costs being what they are lots of people shoot 22's.  It is mostly about coming out for a fun day, enjoying the company of other shooters and raising money for a worthy cause.

So in an effort to help out, Wyatt is selling pink and white bracelets for the event.  They are $12/ea and we'll do pre orders only and they'll be delivered at the match.  The sizes are 6", 7", 8", and 9".  Custom sizes are $3 more.  If you want different colors, we could do that too, but we figured we'd make them pink for the SFAC.  If you are interested, send me an e mail at travis@mgmtargets.com  Thanks for looking!

Hi Everyone! Shoot for a Cure is going full speed ahead now!  ;D Range improvements are underway at Nampa!  8) Registrations are pouring in! It's all very exciting! I came home to 4 new guns in the house!!! :o Brings our total to 6. Not all will be on the prize table, some will be in the bucket drawings. Funds are tight this year. Shoot for a Cure has to pay for lunches and shirts. No donated sandwiches. But fear not, we do have funding from our generous sponsors and will have a great lunch as always!

If you plan on shooting in SFAC this year, please get your registration sent in. I might cut a little slack and take them through Tuesday May 3 since May 1 is Sunday. Most of you know we have to get the shirts made up, make sure we have food for everyone, and make sure we have enough prizes to go around for everyone! We have had lots of help and gathered some great things! To make all this happen, we have to have a cut off date. No sign ups the day of the shoot. :(

If you are planning on ROing or SOing can you please send me a PM or email to tina@sheepdogammo.com
Please include your email address and given name. I just have a few questions and we also need to know who and how many people we can count on to make this another fun, safe event!
Thanks everyone! We look forward to seeing you at Shoot for a Cure 2011.

Due to the number of entry's received ;D registration is now closed for Shoot for a Cure. :'( I am sorry some of you that wanted to shoot will be unable to attend. SFAC is always the Saturday after Mother's Day. Mark it on your calendar for next year, look for it on Boise Shooters and get your paperwork in early. If you are still interested in donating, we would see that funds go to pay for uninsured and underinsured women of the Treasure Valley to receive mammograms.

On a different note, yesterday 11 women worked to stuff goody bags and put together the prizes for the prize table. Thank you so much ladies! :-* I think we all had a great time and it sure helped me out. We have some great prizes as always! Thanks Rhonda for letting us work at your home.

To all of you that are already signed up to participate, we look forward to seeing you at Shoot for a Cure!
