Ammunition Futures
« on: February 01, 2011, 02:26:30 PM »
We have just received word that ATK will be increasing prices effective May 1,2011.  This would include the following brands: Federal, American Eagle, Speer,CCI, Blazer,Estate, Black Cloud, Champion, and Fusion.

The increase is as follows:

Center Handgun 7-15%
Promo Rimfire   10-15%
Standard Rimfire 5-10%
Shotshell 5-10%
Primers   10%

This increase is due to the cost of raw materials.

i worked at a recycling plant in the summer for a few years. we would get a price list faxed to us every day with the current market metal prices. it was interesting to watch them fluctuate but usually the prices, mainly copper aluminum and steel, would increase in the summer as construction ramped up. Copper being the main metal in brass and bullet jackets. copper hit almost 4 dollars a pound for a while a few years ago, think it was still around 3 a while back.

Maybe they'll certify food stamps as a discount measure on ammo?  :o

Glad I stocked up a while ago.  Now I need to buy some silver and a shit pot of nickles.  ;)

When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice, for I am a hunter,
And I must have my freedom.

I've been shooting Ulyanovsk .223 (steel case) as recommended by carhartfarmer.  Been getting decent accuracy out of my 18" SPR with it.  It shoots as good or better than any bulk brass stuff, but I haven't compared it to Federal XM193 yet.  It shoots better than Winchester whitebox Q3131, S&B, PMC, AE Tactical .223, but that's all I've tested it against so far.
And no this isn't "Tula" or "Wolf".  Those 2 won't even cycle my rifle.  The Uly is hot and shoots straight. And ironically the cheapest .223 you can buy....
But beware of shooting steel because its a bi-metal jacket, so your MGM plates will get torn up.  I just use it for paper so far....
My last case was just under $200, delivered.
