From its start, these rifle matches have been primarily focused on being a fun and affordable shooting sport.  Courses of fire are designed to be shot with inexpensive factory rifles and reasonably priced scopes.

.22 Tactical Precision Rifle Matches combine several different types of rifle shooting.

.22 Tactical Precision Rifle combines:
•    tactical scenarios
•    precision fire
•    practical field shooting
•    action shooting
•    long range/distance shooting

.22 Tactical Precision Rifle Matches are adaptations of centerfire Tactical/Precision match formats to rim fire rifles.

These matches are multi-stage, multi-distance events that shooters will find challenging.  The stages are shot at shorter, caliber-appropriate distances.  Target sizes and distances are reduced to scale specifically for .22 rim fire rifles.

The targets are at distances that vary from 25 to 250 yards.

Come on out and give it a try!  .22 Tactical Precision Rifle Matches are challenging, affordable, and will test and develop your rifle marksmanship skills.

Equipment
.22 rim fire rifle - bolt action, semi-auto, pump, etc.
Rifle Scope - optics are highly recommended and preferred (but if one wants to shoot with iron sights, go for it. Just realize the game is built around scoped rifles).  A Mil-Dot scope is recommended but not necessary.
Magazines- Bring at least 2 mags for your rifle
Bipod - can be useful, but one can shoot off a ruck or backpack if preferred.
Rifle Sling – A sling can be used on some COF’s.
Spotting optics - binoculars or a spotting scope are helpful, but one can use their rifle scope for spotting (a cheap $20 pair of binoculars will work great too).
Transport gear - rucksack, duffle, backpack, or shooters box to transport miscellaneous items from firing position to firing position.
Ground gear – a shooting mat, blue tarp, knee and elbow pads, old hunk of carpet, or nothing.  Shooters choice.
Dope sheet – you should have come-up data out to 300 yards.
Misc. gear as needed.

Rules
Safety first!  The 4 rules apply so engage your brain.  Unsafe actions by you will mean a disqualification from the match.
A hit is defined as making the steel target move (ricochet, dirt splash or chain strikes do not count).  Any paper is scored as defined by COF description.
Only .22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle rim fire ammo is allowed, No .17 rim fire or .22WMR is allowed.
Divisions are: Semi-Auto Rifle, All Other Action Types, and Juniors.

Match details
12 stages, approx 120 scored rounds
Bring 200 rounds
Entry fee = $10
Bring your own drinks and snacks

[edit, March match is on March 26th]

[edit august to Aug 13]

This sounds very cool. I won't make the first couple due to tax season but I believe this would be a good shoot to break me in.

Thanks a ton for posting this info :)

You will definitely win the concourse de elegance and I bet she shoots as well as she looks.
I think I might dust off "Ugly Betty" my old 10/22 and find a scope for her so I can come out and shoot with you guy's.

hey everybody, I'm looking to enter my first .22 match and was hoping to make it to the Oct 1st Mogadishu Mile. Just wondering if this is still happening? i looked on the Parma gun club website and it was still on the callender but wasn't much talk about it. It sounds like a bunch of fun and i have one or two other guys who will probably come and compete as well, but just didn't want to make the trip for nothing. Also any tips on what to bring would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks guys.  ;D

Just wondering if this is still happening?

yup, still a go.

Next the Oct 1 match is a true run and gun.
60 shots.
12 targets.
12 stations.
targets from 40 to 120 yards
COF will have shooter cover 500 yards or so total.

SIGN UP IS AT 9AM
Can shoot course multiple times if there is enought time

Pics and vid from May here

Oct 1 will be similar to this

First Mogadishu Mile .22LRTR match

Had the inaugural match today. Set up took longer than anticipated, but it was a fun match.

I was surprised how heavy the rifle got getting back to the finish point.

COF overview.

Run, jog, walk 120 yard ‘warm up’.

Grab rifle and move to different firing positions in Lower Pistol Pits 2 thru 4 engaging 12 different targets with 5 shots each.

When finished, exit out back of Lower Pistol Pit 4 and hustle back to finish point.

Total time start to finish plus a 20 second time penalty per each miss

a bipod is helpfull, but not necessary.
Nobody dialed their scope last time, just used mildots.

This is a unique match, there are few like it, if any,  in the country.
In a way it is a Patrol Shoot but shot as an individaul not a team.

The COF pulls from Biathlon and Patrol Shoot and the rest of the action shootin sports(IDPA, USPSA...)

ok ive got a question for those guys who compete. What is your prefered ammo to use when in a match, and do you guys switch ammo when shooting out to a 100yrds or more? i use cci standard velocity for normal shooting, but its got a decent amount of drop over a 100yrds. just kinda currious what everyone does.  ???   thanks!

You'll see almost all ammo types from Wolf, CCI, to various bulk pack.

Few if any switch ammo durring the match.

CCI SV works super.

All .22 rimfire drops pretty good out past 75 yards.

Max distance on Oct 1 is 120 yards or so
