Sawtooth Tactical and Gun Genie
« on: January 11, 2011, 11:18:50 PM »
This isn't a review of the rife I purchased (that will come later when I get a chance to shoot it) but the purchasing process.

This might be old hat to some, but I hadn't purchased anything from Gun Genie before.

My Brother received a Remington SPS Tactical for Christmas and he thought it was a great rifle for the price.  So, of course, I had to have one   .  I did a bit of research and I found a few models that looked good but were not something typically stocked by the local dealers.  When I saw that Jeff was signed up with Gun Genie it seemed like a good opportunity to try it out.

At first things didn't look too good.  Most really "cool" stuff wasn't in stock but "allocated" to dealers.  However, I found that if you checked the site periodically the stocking levels changed quickly (they must move a ton of guns).

Long story short, I found a Remington 700 XCR Compact Tactical in stock and I ordered one.  As advertised Jeff's price quote was less than Impact Guns.  What I didn't anticipate was the ease and speed of the transaction.  I ordered the gun, paid the deposit on the web site and received a confirmation of the order.  I ordered the gun late in the afternoon on Wednesday and received a confirmation e-mail that the gun would ship by two day air and would be delivered on Monday.  Wow!  I received a call from Jeff and picked up the gun exactly as promised on Monday afternoon.

It was so easy I could hardly believe it.

So if your in the market for a new gun, I encourage you to try the Gun Genie service through Sawtooth Tactical, I certainly will use it again.

Thanks,

Roger

I'll have to second this review!

I just picked up a Ruger 22/45 Talo edition for what I think was a smokin deal.  Nice little 4.5" slab side bull barrel with rosewood replaceable grips.  The transaction was quick, easy and painless.

One thing I learned after talking to Jeff was that if you see a firearm you want to buy, you can call him and order it for the same price.  That way he can add it to another order to save his shipping cost that he's eating to get us the best deal possible.  I know I can wait a little before he gets an order in so he can keep providing these amazing deals.

Check out his prices, they're hard to beat.

Oh, and the pistol.  I've put about 200 rounds through it.  Trigger is nice and crisp, has a little take-up then snap.  Feels like about 5 lbs.  I've had about 5 FTF's, a little push on the charging handle and it seated the rest of the way.  Didn't have any FTE's.  Sights are typical Ruger sights, if I was going to stay with the iron sights, I would change them out with a set of Hi Viz sights or something easier to see.
