I shot this one year - it's an event to get Winter dope for your rifle. We shot lots of different distances, up and down, and I don't remember it being a "Winner" or "Loser" type match. It was a lot of fun, if you like laying in the snow on straw, and I learned a lot about my rifle and its characteristics.

This is usually a 2 man team event... Travis you and I shot this last year together, love to do that again if you want.

Range is dependent on weather, one year we got socked in with fog and was limited to 300 yards and less, if we can see it, we usually have stuff out to 1000 yards give or take a few feet. :-)

This is a competition, but more of a bragging rights match... this is a great time to gather dope (data on previous engagements) for your long range setup. If you have never seen trace, winter is a great time to see it, especially if there is a little snow in the air.

If you don't have a 2 man team, no worries, you can be paired up at the event, but please email the match director if you think your coming, gives us a better idea how to plan.

Details on on the Parma Calendar, just click on the event and you will see the details with contact info.

Again this is Jan 8th, with setup on the 7th.

One other thing, the steel won't take the big guns, 338, 50cal etc... so please limit your guns to the 308, 300 win mag for the most part. We may have a target or 2 that will take the big guns if you want to bring them and switch around, we just ask that you ASK before you haul out the big boy and possibly damage the steel.

Thanks,

Sounds good LM45.  Thanks for the info and I'd love to shoot with you again.  By the way, I obviously didn't make it to the match yesterday, but that .308 did show up friday.  I'll try to post some pictures.  Let me know what you think.

This is a super fun match.

Normally there is no wind, or very little.
Humidity is just right for learning to see the trace.
Details have not been released but normally 60 to 80 rounds scored.

Usually 100 rounds of ammo will do it but will probably be less. Via NG

Planning on it.

Scores and Photo's from Saturday's LRTR match are on the Parma web site.

We had the chance to shoot a new MGM RECON target, a prototype air powered resetting target, check out the MGM website for details.

Very cool target, you hit it, it falls down, and then an air canister and some magic voodoo pop the target back up. Very cool for long range shooting. And at 600 yards or so a 223 will knock it down just fine.

Great day of shooting, 24 of us. Good mix of paper and steel, tested your precision work as well as your long range, shot's out to 900yards at 8" steel targets, only 6 of the 24 shooters were able to make that shot.

I think they were 4" targets.

I set them up, they were 8" plates.

And, a good time was had by all.

Thanks RG...even still...8" plates at 920 yards is still pretty good shooting.
