Let's see.  I write books.  http://www.claytoncramer.com/books.htm -- often, but not exclusively, about the history of weapons regulation.

I write a column for Shotgun News every month--and other occasional articles for popular magazines.  http://www.claytoncramer.com/popularmagazines.htm

I have a fairly extensive publication history in scholarly journals.  http://www.claytoncramer.com/journals.htm
That's not completely up to date; a couple of papers that I co-wrote with Professor Joe Olson of Hamline University law school in support of D.C. v. Heller (2008) will be published in Georgetown Journal of Law & Public Policy and Williamette Law Review in the next few months.

I went to D.C. for the oral arguments in D.C. v. Heller.  I contributed to the historical and criminological research for several of the briefs, and I was asked to be present in case anything last minute came up.  It didn't, but it was a chance to have several meals with Alan Gura, our attorney in Heller, as well as plan long-term strategy for the post-Heller cases with lawyers and law professors who you have either heard or, or should have heard of.

Oh yes, I wasn't happy with the C- rated state senator that I have in district 22 (Boise County and Elmore County), so I am running against him in the primary.  The campaign website is http://cramerforsenate.org/index.shtml

I am trying to get some public speaking opportunities with groups in Boise and Elmore Counties that are interested in hearing from candidates for public office.  Feel free to help!

The reason that Gura used the language that he did was simple: we want to win.  Taking a rigid, historically accurate approach isn't the way to win.

There's a way to win these battles, and a way to lose.  Take a look at the history of the civil rights movement in the U.S.--lots of incremental wins, starting with Missouri ex rel. Gaines in the 1930s, each case asking for just a bit more--until Brown v. Board of Education (1954).

This:

The machinegun issue was tossed out as a trap.  It is not a subject relevant to the case.  This case is about an absolute ban on all functional firearms.  Getting into types of weapons is a distraction meant to scuttle the case.

When we win this one, we'll start going after types as good cases present themselves. They will probably go after supressors next.  There are some good noise ordinance cases they can choose from.
