Sorry Dude - Am I missing something here?
The compact XD-Ms have been out a while, haven't they?

Yes you are Joey :) Maybe you should look at the new grip. ;D  Not sure why they are still calling it a compact when it is more like the xd subcompacts.

The XDm 3.8 was the first "compact" model... but it was just a shorter barrel with the same full size grip.

This XDm Compact 3.8 is now the same barrel length as the "3.8 compact" but now has the shorter grip, with the extended grip feature that makes is a full size gun again.

The XD sub-compact is still smaller. I haven't figure out springfield reasoning here. the XD are different sizes than the XDm, but the XDm have the better triggers, reset, barrel, etc...

Anyway, with the shorter grip it makes the compact a more viable concealed carry gun, although I was carrying my full size XDm today (gasps from the audience, I know) and it does conceal quite well in a cross breed IWB holster (thanks Jeff!)

Here's what I would like to do with and XDm and I'm not sure it can be done...

Take my full size XDm 9mm slide, mount it on the Compact XDm 9mm frame.

Long slide is easy to conceal, easy to shoot, and the short frame makes it easier to conceal. (My prefered carry is IWB)

That to me would be the ultimate XDm Carry gun. Anyone know if that can be done?

I am waiting for Jeff to take delivery of one of these for me. The wife let me get it for Christmas, but I will be in the hospital, under house arrest for several weeks plus, so she said I could get it now. I just hope I can get it soon enough to shoot it before they lock me up.

Just cut down the grip frame on your full size and get some new short mags for your conceal carry and  some grip extensions to make the grip full size with your stock mags. (or replace them with new xdm compact full length mags)

Unless I'm missing something theres nothing important in the bottom half of the grip frame is there? (I have one in the safe, I'll look in the morning)

Or you could just buy a CCO and get back to your roots!   ;)

Technically not a CCO, because it has a bull barrel instead of a bushing, but yeah, this is my usual carry gun.  ;D

really?

I felt my post was relevant. CCO in 1911 = what BK described wanting to do to the XD

I try to stay non confrontational on the forums and read way more threads than I post or respond too.
So I will just say, lead by example.
